My Thunderbolt upgrade the firmware last night and now I cannot load my text messages. It just spins and say "please wait"
How can I fix this...I already powered down...took out battery...what can I do?

What I found worked for me is to reboot the Thunderbolt (not factory reset) give it a minute to boot up then access Messages. Let the phone work... set it down and let it restore the messages.
It took sevreral tries and finally I let it sit there for ~ 5 to 10 minutes doing nothing else but waiting on Messaging system. Eventually the messages loaded and they appear to be working OK.... a different format, but they work.

now when you say reboot...are you talking just shutting it down and restarting?
and once its rebooted and you access messages does the save power mode keep it from working the way you suggested?

OK thanks to Lightman500 its working again.
go to settings..display...and turn off sleep (for now)
go to messages and try and open it...let it sit just running. it will eventually get back to normal.
mine took maybe 15 minutes.
thanks again

Mine also finally displayed correctly and fairly fast. I assume with the new apperance for text, it was re-formatting all of the text messages I have.

I would assume that the TBolt is like other phones when they were upgraded to ICS ... it took several days for the phone to optimize. Give it a few days and see if performance improves.

I think everyone needs to complain to Verizon regarding this upgrade because it can't be undone even resetting to original factory setting will not undo it. Personally I was very happy with the look, feel and operating features that my phone had. It wasn't anybodies right to change the visual functionality nor feel of my cell phone. The text messaging sucks it looks like an I-Phone which I can't stand I was able to keep my SMS text messages but lost all the pictures that have been sent over the years that I didn't save. This pisses me off to no end I want to track down the idiot who thought it would be cute to make that change and bitch slap the hell out of him or her. Secondly the main email application has every email in a space 3/4 of an inch so even upright the most you can see is 4 emails at a time. I use my phone for work I get easily 60 to 100 emails a day and now it takes way too much time to scroll through the screen and delete junk and find the email I need to address immediately again who felt it was their right to decide how my email should look. IF I WANTED A NEW LOOK TO MY CELL PHONE I WOULD HAVE BOUGHT A NEW PHONE! Very disgusted with Verizon.

I to am very unhappy with the upgrade. I used to be able to go to the clock app by tapping on the clock, not anymore!!!!
I don't like the new screen(s) & logon screen changes. My phone is not as responsive as it once was. I still have a problem staying connected for data, It drops 4g, goes to 3g, then 1x & often won't connect at all. Why did Verizon decide to fix wahat wasn't broken?????
