Do you have Quantum hardware (VMS and IPC)?
If not, Alexa only works with this equipment.
If you do, what software version are they running?
Needs to be at least 4.8
Do you mean the DVR box or any set top box needs to have the Quantum hardware as a requirement for this to work? How do I get the Quantum hardware if I don't have it?

Here is all the information you need.

Good Luck
Yes.
You can either go online and order new boxes or call customer service.
You will probably pay a few more dolalrs depending on how many boxes you have.
But you get more services.
Up to 6 tuners for viewing/recording.
1TB of storage space
Ability to pause and rewind live shows from all STBs.
Netflix (have to have your own account)
Ability to watch recorded content outside your house via FIOS app
And of course alexa
Note to Verizon:
Don't use my unsupported device to put a splash up on my tv telling me I can now control fios with alexa.
If you want to announce alexa control tell me I need to upgrade to quantum to do it.
In the setup instruction start with the fact I need specific equipment for this to work
i was able to set up alexa and configure it to the room i wanted, but when asking alexa to change channel or whatever she replys ok but the tv never changes. its only set up to one room which i have the media client called Playroom and alexa is linked to that one box.
Have you tried another box? Just to see if it works?
Can you use remote feature of FiOS mobile app?
I am having the same issue. Set up alexa skill, linked fios account, recognized set top box, chose set top box and amazon dot in the same room. Alexa responds appropriately to commands but command does not change channel on tv. There is no trouble shooting information for this on fios website. Everything says to check amazon alexa for issues when this appears to be a fios issue. Would appreciate some more support info for troubleshooting this.
I seem to be having the same issue. I spoke to tech support twice. The first time they suggested I put the Echo on the Verizon router SSID. That didnt help. The second time, they suggested I reset the router. That didn’t work either.
Has anyone been able to resolve the issue and get Alexa to work?
If you have a device on the same WiFi as echo with FiOS mobile app, does the remote feature work?
Could be a network issue.
How do you know it’s a Fios issue? Maybe it is an Alexa issue.

I had the same problem - followed the instructions for setup in the Alexa app and connected the FIOS box to the Echo. When I gave commands to Alexa, there was a response like it was going to happen, and never did. I called support and went through a bunch of restarting and reconnecting, tried a different Echo, connected to a different VMS, and nothing worked. Finally, the tech sent a reset signal to my FIOS box and everything started to work! Call in for the reset and you should be up and running.
Can also try rebooting VMS or IPC as well.
HI everyone. I’ve enabled the Alexa skill, paired to the correct stb but even though Alexa responds to proper voice commands, the channels do not changed. Spoken to customer services and they sent a reset signal to the stb, still not working. Spoke to Amazon customer services, clueless too. Found the voice troubleshooter on settings page of fios, ran it and came up with errors....any clue how to fix these, customer service hasn’t!
Same problem here. Setup worked fine. It discovered the device and its proper name. Ask Alexa to turn to a channel and she says she does and says what is airing on that channel accurately but the channel does not change on the TV.
Same exact thing happening here...Any fixes anyone?
Verizon, care to tune in with a resolution?
I am having the same problem with Alexa voice command stating she is changing the channel, but the channel doesn’t change. Does anyone have any suggestions to correct this. I have reset my box, but it doesn’t correct the problem
Same problem here. Was working yesterday and now I’m having the same issues as reported by several of you (Echo responds but FiOS PVR does not respond to commands).
Disabled/Renabeled Amazon Skill.
Reset PVR.
Reset Router.
Reset Echo.
Voice Control Troubleshooting shows no issues.
Seeing how I'm not the only one to be having this issue in the last 24 hours could it be network related and out of our control?
Just got my new STB this week. Same issue here.
First generation echo
Fios app works fine.
Alexa makes like its working saying whats on even, but channel doesn't change.
Contacted tech support, nice guy, said they are still learning this new feature too so he couldn't figure it out.
I use a 2nd generation Echo Dot with FiOS. I worked fine yesterday and the day before. Suddenly today it won't change channels. It seems to find the channel, say what is currently on that chanel, and says it is changing but then doesn't actually do it. I have changed nothing on my configuration since yesterday. I've tried resetting the STB, resetting the Dot, resetting the router ... nothing helps. I tried it with another dot (which also previously worked), and that one does not work now either. So I don't think it's an Alexa issue since two different Dots that worked before don't work now. I think it's a Verizon issue that they need to fix.
I'm having same issue here, but when I ask Alexa to search for a show, the search results show up on my TV. If I ask her to change channel, I get a response like she's gonna do it, but nothing happens. I have not yet tried to contact support (been reading this thread)
I think it’s a server issue. It was working yesterday. Alexa does search for shows and can rewind and fast forward but channel changing is not working.
I have the same issue. Worked great for a couple days then nothing yesterday or today. I have unlinked and relinked a dozen times. Hope they find out the issue as I got spoiled haha
Issues still persist... I can also search On Demand programming and Pause/Play but channels don't change.
I didn't get much support this weekend but now that we're into the work week I am hoping the backend video team (or whomenver can look into this) will fix it quickly.
Same issue as everyone else. I have an echo dot (2nd gen), I purchased it for this purpose. Alexa confirms the channel change but the channel never changes.
Tech resetting the STB fixed it.
I'm on hold to get a tech to reset to see if that works for me.
I did tweet to Verizon. First response was to "delete the skill, wait 15 minutes, then try again". That did nothing. I was able to search, ff, but no actual channel change.
I tweeted that info to Verizon. They responded "There is a known issue we are investigating. Issue should be resolved tomorrow morning. ^CAR"
So we'll see.
It worked
Eikookie - what worked?
Connected, but does not work. Equipment is VMS1100 and Echo. Alexa announces the channel change and new program showing, but the TV stays right where it was.
i have enabled, disabled, deleted apps, reinstalled apps, took Alexa Echo off the 2g WiFi and put it on the 5g with the TV and FIOS box, all to no avail.
At one point, I told Alexa to change to CBS and she changed the input from FIOS to HDMI4 where our FireStick is.
????
Alexa can't control your TV inputs.
It may have connected to FireStick vs Fios.
Some commands may overlap between the two devices.
May want to make sure you are more specific to say something like
Alexa change to CBS on FIOS.
Looks like it's working now after not working for a few days. To get it to work again I had to unplug the set top box and then re-link the Alexa device to the box. It's all good now. Great for searching but still faster to use the remote to change channels
I agree with remote vs Alexa.
I have heard that issue with not changing channels or even being to connect have been fixed.Anyone still having issues with either?
Its working now for me now, last week it wasnt. I did nothing, no resets, nothing. I'm going to assume Verizon had to fix something on their end.
Gen 1 echo.
Connection issue was Verizon., not responding to channel changes was amazon.
i am having the same issue. alexa will find the devices, but the tv does not change the channel. fios is not overly helpful and maintains the router reset is the only way they know how to fix it. they want to send a tech out and i have been on the phone for over an hour. is this a solveable problem? i do not want to give up another few hours of my life if a tech is going to come out with no success.
So yesterday I set up my STB to work with Alexa. The setup was painless and voice command worked flawlessly. But today when I execute a command like: "Alexa, watch CNN" it seems to execute the command, says it's tuning in to CNN, knows what's being aired, but nothing happens at the TV. I removed the STB from the Alexa app and reconnected it but that didn't work. Any help would be appreciated . Thank you.
Anyone figure out why it seems to respond on the echo device, repeating the command you give it, but nothing happens on the TV? I have the VMS1100 with the latest Quantum gateway. After attempting without the DVR service, I had it added to the account and DVR functions are working. Running the Alexa troubleshooter on the Fios STB still comes back with the same result, your gateway is not compatible, and port forwarding was unsuccessful. Tried rebooting: VMS1100, quantum gateway, and ONT. Also disabled/enabled skill and unlink/link devices. No change.
I did call in and they did restart and still no change. In fact they’ve done over 20 trouble shooting tips and they gave up and said “they have no idea” why it isn’t working
I have multiple STB one is the DVR box. The app finds and registers all boxes but no matter what I do it only controls one STB.
I had the same problem and realized my Alexa was connected through my non-Verizon WiFi extender. Blocked it from the extender and works fine now.
Yes but for no reason it seems to fix itself and now it has stopped working again all on its own.
