Orbic loses internet connection

We use our Orbic as the wifi connection for security cameras, at a place where we can not get traditional land based wifi.  There is excellent cell reception, however.  As the Orbic hotspot is not supposed to be plugged in 24/7, the power to charge it is timed to go on and off, every three hours.  I've never seen the charge go below about 85%.

It works fine, for about 10-14 days at a time.  I've checked data usage and it's a small fraction of the plan we've subscribed to.  After roughly two weeks, the Orbic will stay powered on, the devices are still connected and it never fully loses charge, however, it disconnects from the internet.  We see the 4G or 5G symbol, with a line through it.  We have to pull the battery and reboot and all is good for almost exactly another couple of weeks.

Is this normal?  Is there a cap for continuous internet connection?

Is there any way to send a reboot request from a remote location to the hotspot?  We're not always there, when it decides to stop playing.

Oh, no! Dealing with data service issues can be overwhelming, especially if it randomly loses connection. Verizon is here to help.

Not that I've seen.  Verizon's forum seems pretty useless, thus far.

My Orbic hotspot randomly shuts off, usually after a few days of continuous operation.  It is always plugged into a power source on our boat.  We use it to connect security cameras to the internet.  When it shuts off we obviously lose internet connectivity.  This is a problem that has apparently been experienced by 8 other people on this forum.  Why has an answer not been published on this forum.

Not of much use as a forum if you don't answer these questions/problems.

Please respond to this post.

My Orbic has randomly shut off since I got it earlier this year.  After doing all the troubleshooting suggestions, it still will work for a few days then shut off.  This is the 4th one they sent me.  I'm calling today to have them give me something else.  This thing is a real piece of junk.

Oh, wow! Dealing with equipment issues can be frustrating, especially if your jetpack keeps shutting off. Let's gather more info.

When exactly did the issue start? What changes have you made? Aside from the random shut-offs any other problems?

Gilbert the Orbic clearly has a problem as there are multiple posts  about it not staying connected..  Please elevate this issue so the Orbic hardware or software can be corrected.

Same exact problem. Starts off with fully charged battery and plugged in. After a  few hours it gives some message about preserving the battery and stops charging. Battery then runs down over and 2 days and shuts down.

Makes it useless as an unattended service that I'm being charged $10 /month for

I purchased the Orbic 5G hotspot in August of this year, and I’m have the same issues starting since I bought the device. I thought maybe it had the old firmware/software, so I updated it but that’s didn’t fix it. I did some of my own troubleshooting and found that my 4G network for the hotspot was turned off. I turned it on, reset the device, and the issue got worse. It now disconnects from the internet every minute it seems like, then stops and is steady for a couple hours, then back to disconnecting.

I know I would share your concern if my device was dropping its connection that frequently since the day it was activated, frocha18. I appreciate all the troubleshooting you have done already with the device. Can you share with me the zip code where the device is in service? Do you have trouble with service on any of your other Verizon devices?

Gotta be a software/firmware issue. Do I pay a good little chunk every monthly for it to get stolen by Verizon by way of garbage equipment? @vzw_customer_support
