Anyone know when 1.9 is supposed to be rolled out to the Long Island, NY (franklin square) area?
Thanks
Anyone know when this will be rolled out to Columbia, MD
Sometime in the future - a week from now, a month from now a year from now... This is Verizon guys, that the way this company operates. They started roll-out in Aril 1.9, then decided to stop roll out and remake 1.9 to 1.9a. Then, by the end of the summer they will find something else, stop rollout to make new updated release they call 1.9b. Sometime, by the end of this century, releaze 1.9y will be rolled out to everybody, maybe..
How are we going to learn when we are scheduled to receive 1.9? Will there be a message on the message center on the TV regarding the update?
Will the update come during the middle of the night? When the update is being downloaded and installed can we still use the STB?
Hello,
My VHO (07) is scheduled for the next update. I know this because when I press the Menu button, there's a message on the top of the screen saying "It's almost here! A new FiOS TV is coming!". I also received an email confirming the same.
Since my VHO (and VHO 8 as well) have has the message for about a week now, I suspect the update may occur tonight, but Verizon gives no specific date or time.
The update occurs automatically during the middle of the night, and the box automatically reboots... at that point you have the new IMG. As far as I have heard, the amount of time your box is down is only about as long as it takes for the box to reboot, which isn't long at all.

In VHO8 there was an email sent informing us of the coming of the new guide in addition to the notice at the top of the menu. Received the email the week before the the update is supposed to happen (this week according to "guesstimates").
I'm in Dallas and I'm dying for the long awaited 1.9 IMG, I don't understand why the Strike in the East is affecting us here with the rollout. Has anyone heard anything?
Because 45,000 workers decided to not work so those that are working need to pick up the slack.
Well, a month after asking the question, still no 1.9 in Franklin Square, NY.
So the strike ends tomorrow. NOW can I have 1.9 PLEASE??? Stupid unions always ruining things for me....

Almost certainly not now! My guess is that Verizon has to get themselves ramped back up, people back in place, network setup redone or at re-verified, etc. Then they will pick a DAC to start with (they already may have done that), and start up. Since you don't have your location in your profile, I don't have even a guess when you might get it. But it is going to take a couple of months I think to finish the rollout.
All just my guess of course.

VHO8 - Philadelphia
Regarding DFW (my VHO is 01), I had the "almost here" message on my main menu for almost 2 weeks. Then it went away several days ago. No email, no update... I thought maybe we had been pushed forward due to the strike up north and then as soon as the strike ends, our local message goes away.
Can someone provide us with current progress in not the schedule?
Is the rollout conintuing on schedule?
Has someone gotten it recently?
I too have an external drive waiting for the update.

Why not have a systemwide release of 1.9 img before this happen? Let us all enjoy the release before dooms day.
You know what an even bigger kick in the pants is, though not Fios TV related, is the internet speeds and what they cost here, compared to say Japan, where they have internet speeds up to 160Mbps downstream for around $60 or $80 a month (can't remember for sure), but here in the best country on earth, it's just south of $200 per month for those speeds. As if it actually "costs" that much more to make those speeds available to their customers. Edit: Here's the article I read about this: Oh, the article states $60 per month for 160Mbps speeds.

To keep somewhat on topic, it's sad that a company gets so huge that they can't "police" what their telephone reps or even their people in the field say. For example, when you are promised the latest software when your service is installed. Being told I would have the 1.9 IMG was the ONLY reason I agreed to the install. I should have cancelled my service as soon as I realized that wasn't the case, went back to DirecTv and gotten the NFL Sunday Ticket pkg for free. Verizon should beg, borrow and steal anything they have to for the ability to offer that to their subscribers. I think the NFL are dumb (since i d i o t s got censored) for not making it available to all providers. My guess is that there are millions and millions of football fans that would pay for it if it were available.
according to another post, the update is coming tonight for SoCal
cant wait 😄 !
VHO1 is in the same DAC as So Cal so hopefully we in North Texas are not far behind (if the other thread is correct).
Please let us know if you actually get the update. I would be nice to have confirmation that the update is happening somewhere.
Thanks!
Received the IMG 1.9 update early this morning. Tried to connect my WD 1TB eSATA drive, and I keep getting the "Unable to connect... try again later" message. What's happening? I am using one of the eSATA drives on the recommended list.
I tried again this morning with my 1TB drive and it set up fine so all is well (DVR menu shows 2 drives now, the internal and my new external).
Seems to be working this morning.
Ok, I went out and bought a drive in June, went away in July and August, and now the summer is over and still no sign of the upgrade in the Washington, D.C. area. I've given up and started using my new hard drive for data backups and will go and get another one for DVR usage. Any updates on when we can expect the upgrade out here?
Same here in Dallas (error and try again message), but after an hour or so Wednesday AM, it activated. Today I successfully activated the "multi-hub feature" , with a dialog telling me it would take 2-4 minutes, but more like 12. Did work.
I have release 1.9 build 10.95
VHO ID 3301
platform ID QIP-7200 P2
So far all pretty positive here!
A friend of mine in the DC area just switched to FIOS and he received a new box with 1.9 on it. I am hoping they do the roll out to the rest of us in the DC area.

Perhaps it is why Virginis and DAC3 with MD, VA and Washington DC is last. Might be a good thing I get it last or don't get it. TiVO shares content between boxes, did they get sued? Verizon has had MRDVR for a while, what about the SAT providers, did the get sued? Multi hub is the only thing I see as being new in the game. I don't see that it is justified. Only thing I see is Cablevision being in bed with this outfit, and a way to go after the competion. Cablevision wants a monopoly.
I am in the Philly suburbs and I just got an email stating that the new IMG is close. But did not state a specific date. I had never received such email before. So must not be far away.
I got the email today in NJ also, but I also got this email about 6 weeks ago, so we will see
Anyone know when this will come to North NJ? I keep getting emails, I bought the external Hardrive about 6 months ago when I got the email it was available, but no 1.9 image so it doesnt work. My contract is up pretty soon in 2012, will I ever see 1.9? They keep sending me emails, but no 1.9???? Hello?

Welcome to Verizon!!! You will see 1.9 - sometime in the future. Joe A. guaranteed that it will be rolled out by Halloween of who knows what year, so don't worry - time is PRICELESS. I know, in Massachusetts we will get 1.9 - in 2014, sorry I meant 2024...
Update for NJ:
Confirmed 1.9 recieved tonight,
Today at like 4:00am, was just watching Boardwalk Empire on Demand. Box went off for 20 minutes, came on with new on-screen wizard and guide! Finally!
Neptune NJ, 07753
Cheers!
yep, got it in Cherry Hill NJ at 4 AM.
Received the message on dvr today - Floral Park LI
I'm also in NY and I can't wait to finally check it out.
I have heard there's ANOTHER delay 😞
Apparently so. Several others with contacts with Verizon are now reporting another delay.
@Chitchatjf wrote: I have heard there's ANOTHER delay 😞
Bummer. So, is the delay a few days? Weeks?
Well at least the a new fios coming soon message is still on the menu screen (for what that's worth)
Delay with 1.9 rollout? I was expected this, morover I was positive it will happen. After all, this is Verizon, guys, the company unable to do things right! 5 year of develpoing IMG, then beta testing then March 2011 they started rollout, then they stopped rolout because of the negative reaction from customers, then hurricane, then strike, then, then then... What is the reason for delay now? I already expressed opinion that Verizon IMG development team is very unprofessional, based on how they do rollout...
Well, maybe we all finally get 1.9 sometime in the future - 5-6 years from now. Joe Ambeault once said that he is very proud of his IMG dvelopment team. If I would be him, I certainly will not.
AD
Where are the delays taking place at? In which market? If it's DAC 5, Then it's time to skip to last set of DAC's in DAC 3. Unless there's something Holding DAC 3 up as well?
Joe A tweeted that the batting order was changed and NoVA should be smiling sooner, so...
@oyster wrote:I agree mr Alden...its raining here..thays why..union guys don't work in the rain..wind snow....if there hungry ..upset...or any holiday unkess you pay them extorsion rates...the thing that gets me upset is they do not communicate when..how...or why about anything ..just like cable...they need to realize a large chunk. Of their subscriber base are tech savvy not the average dolt who doesn't know how things work or want to...well they do not do updates on any other day than Tuesday so maybe next week....see ya all next week..HEY JOE CHIME IN ..LET US KNOW WHATS THE DEAL!!!!!!
Are you done?
Realize that all the scheduling, programming, and systems integration work are done by Management, not Union personnel. And all methods of communication (including miscommunication) are management responsibilities.
And yes, they do work in the rain, But for safety-mandated reasons (again a Management decision, albeit a smart one.) usually indoor jobs are completed in inclement weather.
But don't let me confuse you with the facts, if your mind is made up.

Did Joe A. say anything in any of the forums yet? Beside just the tweeting. The batting order has changed and Nova should be smiling sooner which means what exactly? Moving on to the next DAC?@dcgaijin wrote: Joe A tweeted that the batting order was changed and NoVA should be smiling sooner, so...
the message is gone from mine as well.. Queens NY...
So will it be 11/9 for us or till thanksgiving? any idea?
is there a forum like satelliteguys.us for Fios subscribers..?
Cause this forum doesnt give much information....
Thanks..
Aplle can upgrade millions and millions of devices in a single day, these clowns at verizon need 6-9 months and still cant get it right. COME ON!!!!, stop the **bleep** IMG 1.9 works, now download it to the customers.

Not just Apple. but any software company - Microsoft, Google, etc, etc do updates once for everybody. DirectTV also upgrade once for everybody, Dish, I believe, also upgrades at once. For Verizon, specifically for Joe Ambeault software upgrade is event of the century, or maybe millenium.. I am suprised why they upgrade by DAC - thousands customers at once. It would be wise to upgrade each individual box in order to prevent software crashes and customer complaints. That way Joe will be guaranteed that every box will be upgraded properly. Yes, it will take couple hundred years to upgrade everybody but it will be done without major hickups. In the end of the day Joe is still very proud of how he and his development handle this rollout - one happy develpment manaager out there....
i was curious about this upgrade from the verizon magazine and I got pointed in this direction . Is this a TV guide upgrade or is it more than that? Is everyone angry because they want to watch the guide and not tv shows? So confused!!! Lots of grown men crying over a tv guide is a serious problem and verizon must meet their demands.....or they might need to get girlfriends and have to go out. If it was an upgrade for 3D porn I'd be the biggest **bleep** complaining but this is a f'n TV guide update. We'll get it when we get it.
I would like to get the updates since it was said to correct the handshake issues I have with some of my equipment. If it wasnt for this issue I would not give one ***??(&*(%#$@^&%&**
I think that we are wasting our time, does anyone working for Verizon read this forum, and if so do you think that they actually care? They have most of the country set up with 1.9, there is no valid reason that everyone doesn't have it.
I am in the Washington, DC Metro (NoVA) and I have IMG 1.9 today......YAY!!!!
I am in New York and don't have it yet
Since we are so close to Halloween, all I have to say to Verizon is...
Boo!
Why on Earth is this taking so long?
Because it's Verizon, for crist sake!!!
They are simply unable to make things right - and IMG rollout it the best example of it!!! Joe told by Halloween it will be over! He did not though what year Halloween it will be over - definetely not this year. BOOO!
Still waiting...
Anyone know when 1.9 is coming to Massachusetts? Is there someplace we can subscribe to be notified by email when it will be available? Just looking for some definative timeframe so that we can plan accordingly (ie. connect hard drive so we can record more shows). Thanks.

Nobody knows including production manger Joe Ambeault responsible for upgrade - he lied to us so many times about the date for upgrade that nobody minimally reasonable beleives him. His latest lie that we gonna be upgraded before Turkey day - blatant lie. O, I am sorry, in his Twetter blog he said Turkey day but did not specify what year.... There will be plenty more Turkey days in the coming years, so he will have an opportunity to fulfiil his promise.
I'd say you all should be getting that "A new FiOS TV is coming" banner real soon.
@nascar wrote: I'd say you all should be getting that "A new FiOS TV is coming" banner real soon.
I wonder how many complainers will complain about the guide when they get it.
I like it just fine, with the proper configuration on a decent TV. I have even forgotten what the other one looked like.
I do wish the best for those still waiting, but I remember getting 1.8 about this time last year.
My DVR box started recycling at 4:08 AM . I'm in Marlborough, Ma. Remote control doesn't seem to be able to get the Guide or Menu. I hope this means that Boston is getting cut over as I type.
SAMEEE things is going on with me trying to watch tv and it just went out i was like what in the world try all my other boxes nothingg NYC 4:00 when it happen i spoke to rep they told me...

My DVR was showing channels changing. I turned it on and it asked for the type of display. It is the new IMG
We now have IMG 1.9 here in White Plains. Looks good so far...
Ditto here on Long Island. We got 1.9 overnight. My initial reactions: a) It works, it's better and looks good; and b) It sure isn't enough of a change to justify all the agonizing that went on here waiting for it.
We are finally live with IMG 1.9 here in RI…we just received the upgrade this morning. I didn’t get to play with it too much yet as I had to go off to work today, but so far so good. The guide and menus looked very nice from what I could quickly see, so I’m not sure what all the complaints were about.
I'm also in Marlboro Mass. A day or two after the upgrade, one of my older STB's, a Moto 71001, started power cycling and could not remain turned on for more than a few minutes. I ordered a replacement from tech service. Then, this morning, our multi-room DVR no longer could communicate with the other STB's in the house, and also couldn't get widgets on that box. It had an IP address of 0.0.0.0. After a long bout with tech service, it now is working. Finally later this morning my replacement STB arrived, a Moto 71002. It wouldn't activate automatically, and manual activation also failed. I spoke to a nice guy at tech support who was able to reset the box, and now it works.
I'm happy to get 1.9 and all its bells and whistles, but it's been a bumpy road getting everything working right.
--Marlboro Man
It isn't good here on SI. The display doesn't work well with the older boxes (many are still less than a year old. It's hard to read, sluggish, only shows 90 minutes ahead, and only 4 channels at a time. So our choices are: grin and bear it (put up with a dysfunctional guide but still pay full price); lose a day of work so I can schlep to my "nearest" FiOS store and hope I won't be charged a swapping fee; or pay to ship a new box and return an old box that has been unnecessarily out-moded. And then we have to hope we can set it up accurately when it finally arrives or probably pay a service charge to have a tech set it up...whenever they can find the time. It's all just poor customer service. They should have delivered new boxes and collected the obsolete ones before forcing the upgrade, or give customers who were perfectly happy with the superior and simpler IMG the option to NOT accept. Some of us older folks (and those of us who have long commutes and would have to take time off from jobs we can't afford to lose) can't just run to the nearest Verizon place to get a newer box that will work. Other than the IMG being useless now, the box works perfectly. Having to change boxes just so we can have a working guide is rather like having to get rid of your perfectly good car because your EZPass velcro won't hold anymore. FiOS has been great for the most part, but in this instance they made a poor NetFlix move.
