Any updates for when img 1.9 is going to be rolled out in the Boston area?
I've got a feeling..... 10 / 19 / 2011... around 2AM or so...
I believe we're next up on the list. Not 100% sure though.
We are definitely next up on the list.
I read somewhere else that we would be getting it next week (10/11) but the original date (after the strike) was, as the poster here suggests 10/19.
Given the roll out in the last area was ahead of schedule, I was wondering if we were going to be ahead of schedule too?
(I have an external drive that has been sitting there for months and an internal drive that is maxed out ... even though I have one of the larger internal drives ... I got the external because Verizon has had the advertizement about being able to use external drives on their main site for months, not sure why they chose to do that).
Is there any update on the timeline for the Boston area rollout of IMG 1.9??
I hear Boston along with NY has been delayed.

Looks like you were way to optimistic by hoping to get 1.9 in October 19. You just don't realize who are dealing with - it's Verizon for the god sakes!!!. Specifically, IMG development team headed by Joe Ambeault - the most unprofessional team you can imagine. So, to expect that they will rollout IMG 1.9 AHEAD OF SCHEDULE it's like to hope that ALIENS from other planet will visit us next weekend. Keep your fingers crossed and hope to get 1.9 in November ... 2013 ( if Joe will decide that Boston deserves to be upgraded!) Honestly I am so angry at Verizon now with this rollout mess that I will seriously consider dropping Verizon altogether and swithching to DirectTV. Moreover, it will be good idea for many Verizon FIOS customers to do the same - we need to teach Verizon the lesson to treat customers with respect they deserve to have!
I did a live chat this morning and they said IMG 1.9 due 11/29/11 - I'm in Acton. The reply came back pretty quickly, which may suggest there's an actual list? That's just a guess on my part - live chat agent however definitely told me 11/29/11.
Ordering an external e-sata now.... Too bad disk drive prices are under some pressure.....
Joe A,mbeault promised :
"Around Turkey Day", TJ https://twitter.com/#!/FiOSTV/status/135086768964894720
Now rep promised you 11/29 date
How much this and all other promises worth?
You may be rushing to buy extrenal esata drive too early - it very much possible, knowing how Verizon usually operates, that11/29 will be one more broken promise...

Too early? Well some people have had issues finding the right drive. If you spent as much time watching and erasing your recorded shows as you do on here complaining, It would be here before you know it. I just don't see what you plan to accomplish with your constant complaining, and attempts to down grade Joe A.. Yes there are things he has promised and not delivered, but perhaps it is people and circumstances that has prevented the fulfillment of those. Yes I too have been disappointed by certain promises. Ultimately it is the man at the top that is responsible, but what is one to do? Fire everyone working for you? Some things just happen.
Yes I like my FiOS DVR QIP-7232 P2 1.9, and I also have a TiVO HD with CableCard 1tb internal drive. My daughter now has the TiVO, and I have yet to fill up the 7232 drive. To much space not enough tuner. Go get one of those new TiVOs with a cable card big drive and 4 tuners. I bought my TiVO the year before the 7232, and I am back to the Verizon Box. For me I like the new guide, but it would not be life ending if I had to go back to the old one.
This is not ment as a nasty post to you, but you might want to just sit back and chill.
Best wishes to you.
{word filter avoidance}......IF I DONT GET 1.9A ON MY TV TUESDAY MORNING..I DROP FIOS TRIPLE..BEEN CUSTOMER FOR THREE FREAKING YEARS...YOUR TELLING ME NEW CUSTOMERS GET IT IN BOSTON..WITH FREE LIFETIME DVR ..IMNSTILL PAYING $20 freaking dollars..month..netflix and Xbox LiveSee ya fios
The way the network is set up, we have to go market by market to complete the upgrade, so it takes some time to get everyone on the new software versions. I know it feels like its taking a very long time, but I think in reality this is a fairly typical time frame for this sort of thing...
What is "market by market"? Is a market the VHO or town within the WHO/hub? Why does a new[er] customer in MA have 1.9 and not some of the longer/more loyal customers? Is it the same reason why new customers get a bigger hard drive then the old customers that have to pay a fee for it?
When I got the 2nd DVR, and was told that it currently can't communicate with the multihub - I wasn't going to get it but I was told it was coming soon (If I remember correctly it was tentatively set for 2 Quarter but not "guaranteed") needless to say, have been disappointed many times and today is yet just another...
I can't speak for others that are upset but I know I am more frustrated with the lack of straight forward communication from Verizon about when it will happen and what steps are being taken to address them. I switched from a local cable provider that gave great customer service, and in all honesty that was a major reason for not wanting to switch - having a mega company allows too much room to be not responsive to its customer base.
So he's got the "CISCO" box, not Motorola ?

Actually, the rollout is by "DAC", which may or may not include multiple VH's.
new customers in much (if not all) of MA. are being supplied with a CISCO box, which comes with 1.9 installed. Motorola boxes are on 1.8.
Agreed Skrap. Verizon employees on this board are having difficulty comprehending the following: our biggest gripe is the lack of transparency from Verizon. Why give your customers an upgrade date if you cannot adhere to the deadline? If you insist of giving us dates and you miss the deadline, tell us why and be specific.
I too agree that this is unacceptable. I'm tired of the excuses and I would like some accountability for the long wait to 1.9. It is Verizon's fault plain and simple that the Northeast is still without 1.9, regardless of the reasons. It is also a well documented fact that we have been promised 1.9 for well over a year now. Every other market in the US has 1.9, some for 9+ months now, and all of the advertisements on TV here in New England show the 1.9 menus, and the FIOS help also shows the 1.9 menus.
Starting this billing period I will be disputing my FIOS bill, and every subsequent bill until either my service is shut off or 1.9 is deployed. I believe that at this point it is my responsibility as a consumer to fight for my right to the same features and benefits as everyone else. Verizon's statements have been deceptive in convincing me and others to choose FIOS over competitors, and now with a contract I cannot switch to another provider (Without a cancellation fee) because Verizon did not live up to their obligations.
The northeast doesn't have it? I'm from New Jersey and New Jersey has it. That's part of the northeast. You're referring to New York and Masschusetts, I believe.
No, Jersey is part of the Mid Atlantic Region!
In MA and still waiting.
At this rate, it's looking more and more like 2012.
What say you Verizon? Will the Boston area get img 1.9 before that big ball drops in NYC on 12/31/11?
Twitter Joe is authoritative on this subject.
He has stated elsewhere it will not be before January.
A new date has not been publicly announced,
and probably will not be before the end of the year.
Not happy to deliver that news,
but you asked, and it seemed better to be honest and direct about it.
All your paying customers want is more transparency from Verizon. Don't lose sight that we pay you and you provide a service. Now keeping in mind that we pay you, we want to know what is going on with our service good, bad, or indifferent. When we ask a question, we want the most direct and responsible answer. Your presence here Malcolm_Stanley is a start since you have been much more direct than anyone at Verizon on these forums. Also, Twitter and or Joe's responses are so much more frustrating, for us paying customers, than a value. I think the use of Twitter needs to be addressed and a more formal method of online communication, such as here, should be used. We, the customer, want answers, not riddles, and all we get from Joe and Twitter is riddles. I hope you take my thoughts and comments here and make progress in customer relations.Thank you!Malcolm_Stanley wrote:Twitter Joe is authoritative on this subject. He has stated elsewhere it will not be before January.A new date has not been publicly announced, and probably will not be before the end of the year. Not happy to deliver that news, but you asked, and it seemed better to be honest and direct about it.

We appreciate the honesty - well, some of us do anyway! Thank You!
A few weeks ago, my coworker purchased a FIOS package for the first time, and with it he got a new Cisco DVR with a 500 GB drive. I asked him to confirm what the software IMG version was, and he confirmed it was 1.9. So apparentley, new customers are getting the 1.9 firmware in the greater Boston area. I am an existing customer (3+ years) with an older Motorola 160 GB model and IMG 1.8. From the conversations in this thread it looks like Boston has been waiting quite a while for no particular reason, especially with new customers getting the latest update out of the gate. Hopefully, the predictions of this month (January 2012) will soon come true. I wonder how they will notify us existing customers? Do we wake up one day, switch on the DVR and find it totally changed? A while back, I made a phone call to inquire about getting a new DVR which ended in a dropped call when they transfered me to another department. It's always struck me as a raw deal that loyal customers are stuck with the ancient-technology 160 GB Motorolas with no widely known or publicized way on how to get a newer one. At least with IMG 1.9 we can finally use the eSATA port which I am looking forward to. At last, my family won't have to compete over which HD-recorded shows to delete because the DVR is out of space again, and maybe the responsiveness of the Guide will be better, especially in other rooms.
I'm north of Boston and I just received the email notice of IMG 1.9 coming "soon" at 9pm. We'll have to wait and see ...
The "Its almost here! A new FIOS TV is coming..." message is back throughout DAC 5 (NY, MA, RI areas) as well as reports of the Email message.
My DVR box started recycling at 4:08 AM . I'm in Marlborough, Ma. Remote control doesn't seem to be able to get the Guide or Menu. I hope this means that Boston is getting cut over as I type. IT is now 4:30 AM and the new HD Guide is on the Screen. It looks like they have finally finished the Boston area.

Yes, it does. We noticed the new HD Guide this morning just a little northwest of Boston. All works fine!
IMG 1.9 updated for me last night... Danvers MA
Looks good so far... but I'm really curious to see if the MultiRoom DVR really works for all the connected DVRs now.
We are finally live with IMG 1.9 here in RI…we just received the upgrade this morning. I didn’t get to play with it too much yet as I had to go off to work today, but so far so good. The guide and menus looked very nice from what I could quickly see, so I’m not sure what all the complaints were about.
Acton MA - Woke up on 1/9 to find 1.9! Thanks Verizon! First feedbackup about this happening before end of 2011 was off a bit, but 2nd feedback about in the new year came true.
Hooked up external e-sata drive using Rosewill enc. and simple WD 500GB disk and it was discovered - yeah! I didn't complete adding the new disk because I think I'll get on the WD AV-GP disks (all disk pricey right now).
