How do you exit the Music app?

How do you stop or exit the Music app on an LG G2?  I can't find a way to stop the app.  Does Pausing the player and Returning to Home stop the app from running (and using battery)?

Yep while in the music app you click the pause/stop button and then click the center home key.

The music is stopped.

You know via swiping up from the bottom of the screen you can also access your music player? I noticed it on my wife's G2.
