How to put music on phone?

Im sure this is a pretty elementry ? for most of you, im an old lady and seriously dont know how. Also does it cost money?

If you already have the music on your pc all you have to do is

1. Plug phone into computer
2. Pull down top status bar on phone
   
3. Select option for Mass Storage
4. Go to PC
5. Open My Computer or Computer for Vista or 7
6. Browse to location with music files
7. Select and copy files you want to place on device
8. Go Back to My Computer or Computer for Vista or 7
9. Selsct last storage drive letter (This Should Be the Phones SD Card)
10. Browse to location you want to copy to and right click mouse and paste files into location.
