I've done a regular and hard reset on my phone and my "knock on" will not work, but knock off works just fine. This started out of NO WHERE! Even after the KitKat update, my phone has been working just fine. Could Verizon PLEASE help us with this issue?!?! There seems to be a lot of questions about this problem that are unanswered! I LOVE this phone, this is the first time I've had an issue! That, and I just realized yesterday that a section of my screen isn't working! I went to the "Draw" application and colored the screen, and the first time I drew, there was a complete rectangular blank spot, the second time I tried it, in the same rectangular section, I was only able to draw vertically, and not horizontally. I've been extremely careful with my phone and kept a case on it since I bought it. The case is not covering the LED light, which was an issue some were having. KathleenKBG

I've also calibrated the sensor, tried turning the Knocking feature off and resetting the phone, then turning the Knocking feature back on. Nothing has helped. I've read somewhere there was a touchscreen update for the LG? Yet I've run my LG updating software and shows no updates are available.

That's never fun briemarie! I'm sorry to see you've been having problems with your phone. We want it back to running smoothly so you can love it again. I appreciate you taking those steps to resolve it. We have just one more to go; please test the touch screen using the Notebook application. Draw vertical lines from top to bottom of the screeen, if the lines are interrupted or the touch screen does not respond, please accept my follow request and follow me back. Then, you will be able to send me a direct message.

this was from the first draw--almost the whole rectangular section was unresponsive, except for one line.
the second time I tried (below), only the vertical lines responded. Verizon Wireless Customer Support

No I could not send a message, as my request is pending. This is an issue that should probably be resolved by LG, not so much Verizon. LG insisted that this was not a known issue -- WHICH IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. I've found too many people writing about these same exact problems. I've done factory resets, started in Safe mode, and even got a replacement phone -- but I don't want a replacement..I just want MY phone to WORK CORRECTLY! LG thinks that just because they're coming out with the G3 soon, that they can just write a minor update to destroy our current G2's so that we will just decide to upgrade to the G3. Has anyone else noticed their microphone for speech-to-text on the keyboard is now gone, too?!!?! RIDICULOUS!!!!!!!!

Dear Verizon people:
I promise not to delve into any ridiculous conspiracy allegations.
My LG G2 has a similar issue that the Knock On feature stopped working in the last 24 hours. And like the OP, I also have a dead spot in the top part of my screen if I go to Notebook and try drawing lines. I booted into Safe Mode, and the problem persisted.
A 2 hr call to Support brought me to one person who suggested taking the battery out !?!?!? Clearly, the rash of similar reports suggests that something is going on, and a factory reset will not solve it. The Support line has never heard of either problem.
Since I don't have a Twitter account, how can I contact you to receive further assistance?
Thank you in advance.

I've had this phone since launch day without a problem...All of a sudden, my touchscreen has went haywire: Knock On doesn't work, the screen has a mind of it's own, the touch response is awful. This happened out of nowhere and is very frustrating. I have tried everything from a Reboot to a Factory Data Reset to no avail. I just want my phone to work as it did before. Would appreciate help here

briemarie ... Both adas_vzw and LenaA_VZW indicate they've sent you Follow requests that you should see in your forum inbox ... did you receive and approve them? You also then need to hover over their user names (their specific names as posted here, not the generic Verizon Wireless Customer Support) and click Follow to send them a request that they'll likewise have to approve. Once you are Following each other, then you can Direct Message each other by again hovering over their specific user name and clicking Message.

If you'd notice on the picture I posted, it says "Awaiting approval" so I've done what I needed to do at this point. Just waiting for them to accept or follow me back.

Yes, I noticed that, as well as noticed that it was sent to the generic Customer Support profile. As noted earlier, the Follow requests need to be sent to the specific Verizon reps, not the generic Customer Support account. If you wait on approval from the generic Verizon Wireless Customer Support account, I'm afraid you'll be waiting for a very long time.

I'm seeing the exact same problem, which I think started after the last SW update. Knock ON to turn off the phone works but I can't use Knock ON turn it on.
Parts of the touch display won't register. In exactly the same as reported by the originator of this thread.
Even worse, I am no longer able to download apps from Google Play Store since the Install button lies in the "dead" zone.
I've seen reports of this issue on other LG G2 devices on other carriers, but their users are able to fix it but entering a code into the dialer to reinstall the touch screen driver. These code won't work on the Verizon version of the phone.
Is there another means to get the phone fixed, something like re-imaging or reflashing the device at the store?

Same issues here, no knock on and a dead spot on the screen. The bets i can tell, this is an issue specific to Verizon variants. Other carriers are having issues with knock not working, but no dead spot issues. The other variants have the option to update the touch firmware that fixes the issues most of the time. For some reason the Verizon variant does not have that apk required to open the hidden menu. However i do not believe a simple software update will fix the issue. It may bring knock on back, but i have a feeling the dead spot if a hardware defect in the digitizer. Being that the Verizon variant is the the only variant built differently, this makes perfect sense. Although people say this is not a VZW issue, it really kind of is. VZW is the one who wanted the device built differently to include features such as wireless charging and the extra noise cancelling microphone. It could just be the knock issue is the same issue as the other variants, but the difference in build has caused a issue in the digitizer at the same time that has to be tied to the kitkat update in some way ( heat maybe?). That being said I have visited a corporate Verizon store after reading some thread in here. They looked at it and deemed it warrantable, even with the scratches on the screen, and have got a OE ( so they say) replacement coming my way. IMO as long as Verizon is willing help obtain a manufacture warranty, they are doing ok in my book. As far as LG goes, GOOD LUCK! Their only solution is to send your phone in to be inspected with 5-7 days down time before they will consider fixing or replacing and determining if it is unwarrantable or not. Their answer for I was supposed to do in the down time? Find a replacement while they have it. My best advice to anyone having this issue would be to go see you're closest Verizon corporate store.
On a side note in my searches i did find a " work around" for getting to the hidden menu to attempt a touch firmware update. It requires side loading the apk from another variant and using ADB to launch it.Being i have a replacement on the way, im not willing to try it. Just thought I would put that out there.
Good luck everybody, i will update the the results from my replacement when i receive it. And thanks to the Verizon reps, although not direct contact your replies helped me in my quest.

thanks for the update.
right, the hidden menu for requesting the firmware update / reload is disabled on the VZW model, and would require someone jumping through hoops to get it.
seems like there are two different problems.
1). digitizer failing. should be able to check this with a program / download like Touch Test. There should be no areas of the screen that don't register when you trace your finger around.
2). knock on not working. something is leading to corruption of the firmware. However, it's possible, some people have turned it off. Settings | Gestures | KnockOn. One should also verify they've calibrated the Motion Sensor: Settings | Gestures | Motion sensor calibration

I did a motion sensor calibration, no dice . I would like access the hidden me nu with the work around, but dont want to risk goofing something up and voiding my warranty. However i dont feel it would help though. I think the dead spot is hardware. It is odd though how across all variant the loss of knock on is happening, but the verizon variant is the only one i have seen reports of dead spots on.
