I'll be travelling to Brazil in February and am curious about what my options are in terms of staying in contact with family, especially when my arrangements wont include access to internet. Is the revolution an international phone? Rec's are appreciated. Skype? Old school with a phone card?

No, the revolution is not an international phone, I don't think any of Verizon's 4G phones are. You could probably Skype with it over WiFi, though.
