My WiFi won't start

Turned my phone on this morning and the WiFi won't turn on.  It says it's turning on, but doesn't.  It isn't my WiFi because I checked to make sure it was working with my tablet.  Could this have anything to do with the security issue recently discovered?  What do I do?

Sounds like either- A) A third party app or B) A software or hardware issue could be causing your phones wifi function to not turn on. You could delete unnecessary third party apps or run safe mode to check and see if wifi works after, or a factory reset can also resolve software issues. If it still doesn't work after that it would be a hardware issue and you'd want to look at warranty/replacement/upgrade options for resolution.

When I say it isn't my WiFi, I mean my WiFi at home is working so it isn't that.  It's my cell phone's WiFi that isn't working.  Sorry...had to clarify.

Are you trying to connect your phone to a wifi hotspot to use internet on it while away from home, or are you having trouble using the feature on your phone to make it a wifi hotspot to connect things such as your tablet to it?

I have WiFi at home and connect the WiFi on my phone to it (and to other WiFi hotspots).  WiFi is not turning on on my cell phone to connect so I can use it to get to the Internet.

Thanks for clarifying! I wanted to make sure I understood. I have had that happen a couple times (on different phones) and have been able to fix it by restarting the phone. After doing this does the phone allow you to turn the wifi function on, and see available wifi networks around you?

No.  I have restarted 4 times today.  I shut the phone off at night so it gets a fresh startup every morning.

This is very rare.  Try Safe Mode first:  http://www.verizonwireless.com/support/knowledge-base-87334/

If no dice, then its a hardware issue.  If it works, delete the last app installed and go back from there.  Make sure all needed apps are updated.

Hello GypsyWeaver! Let's get your Wi-Fi up and running again for you.My apologies for the issues you're experiencing. Let's try a few different steps to save you a trip to the store. The first step: http://spr.ly/6582B1L7O Try this and then re-add on the Wi-Fi connection and test. Thanks!

Thank you Deloused and Snn5.

I restarted the phone in Safe Mode and the WiFi still won't turn on.  On my way to Verizon to see if they can do something as I only have 1 month left to my contract.

Thank you again.
