Txt Message Won't Go Through

I am sending a text message and I get the message icon with a red explanation mark...stating message not sent.  What have I done incorrectly, have only had touchscreen for 3 weeks.

Perhaps a network issue. Can you go to the message that failed and try to send the message again?
