Some combination of verizon crapware prevented the primary microphone on my LG G2 from working at all. This occurred some time after the kitkat ota update. Took me days to figure out verizon was the problem. Looks like it is some combination of their garbage software, and not just one particular app. VERIZON (removed).

We want to help get your microphone working again so that you can love your phone like you used to! What lead you to the conclusion it was a pre-installed app or two causing the issue? Please try putting your phone in Safe Mode http://vz.to/1pC4ADU to disable all 3rd party apps and then test it out.
