When can we REALLY expect LG G2 Kitkat update?!?!?!

Seriously Verizon Wireless Community What the ***? This is just ridiculous. First I unwillingly abandon my long time unlimited data because I didn't have $600 to drop on a full price phone (I haven't owned my own computer in 6 years and my phone is everything. Staying up to date is essential. So, the fact that no matter what I tried to doI could not keep that feature was just about the last straw for Verizon) I ended up going with Jump because like I mentioned earlier, staying up to date on phones is crutial for me. I find it pretty ridiculous that we pay the most of any carrier just to have the *best* reception. With T-mobile actively expanding and increasing their towers, I think the move to them is imminent. Being the last (by a long shot) to receive updates just to be met with copious amounts of unwanted bloatware and restrictions on OUR devices that are too expensive for Verizon to be able to literally **** us by making them almost unusable or at very least utterly annoying and lack of any personalization. The squeaky wheel  USUALLY gets the oil, but verizon can tune us out better than anyone. I, personally, am one **** deal and crappy costomer service experience away from doing everything I can to get the many people I know off of this  arrogant network. T-mobile, get ready for a ton of new contracts. If someone wants to reinstate my unlimited data and give us a solid word on an OS update instead of endless ** that would be fantastic. I've been hearing since early Feb that it is coming and waited as long as I could before getting the G2. Your move Verizon.

I am very frustrated that Kit Kat is not out yet for VZW customers. I have been a loyal VZW customer but if they cannot get this right, then we should have some compensation relief on our bill for lack of service (updates come from manufacturers who deem it necessary for us to have the update) And in typical VZW fashion, there is no way to complain other than calling and the employees that are at the call center have no influence over the situation. I will be seeing about emailing customer corporate support to lodge a formal complaint. Sad, pay so much for a service and can't get full service. Looks like switching out to another carrier may have to be an option because VZW simply can't do it right and in time!

I spoke to a verizon rep. yesterday regarding the g2 update to kit Kat.  after emailing the NY metro representative I received a call from Roberta Pukala.  she stated, and I quote, "Verizon does not have the kit Kat update for the g2" she continued, "lg is in control of releasing the update and Verizon would love to push kit kat to its customers..". after I picked my jaw off the floor I asked about a time frame for the update, she respondwed " Verizon does not have any info on a release date, I apologize"

what is the truth? I emailed lg and am awaiting an answer.

This is an outright lie if she did tell you that. LG openly released the LG G2 kitkat update to ALL USA carriers. The truth is that Verizon has not yet finished their tinkering with the operating system. They will remove the features that they don't want us to have and add what they desire us to have. There will be a lot of bloatware and unnecessary things in their version of the kitkat for LG G2. I am not saying that they can't do what they want to do with their carrier but it would be wise to stop making their customers angry and it would also be wiser to try to listen to them a lot more.

@Starflyr

We know that is a flat out lie. LG has released the source code. Heck, LG even promised that code would have been released before the end of Q1 and it was released back in February!

Get off your arses Verizon. We need the update!

I have been with Verizon a long time. I really never got in to the "I need the update now" mentality. However, what has become more frustrating is that every other major carrier has released Kit Kat for both the LG G2 and the Galaxy S4 (I have both on my account).  I don't want an update that is riddled with issues. For that, I would gladly wait if Verizon scrutinized more closely any update it pushed out. However, history is not on Verizon's side by pushing out a more problem-free update than any other carrier. I am fed up with the company line that "LG pushes out the updates, not Verizon."  This is just not true.  If so, I am pretty sure LG would update all devices, not just certain carriers.  Come on Verizon, if the updates are there, get them out to your customer base.  The ones that continue to support your salary. It's not one device...it is every device.  You are late to the game every time and have yet to provide one legitimate reason except passing the buck.

Not all providers have pushed it out.

As I posted this morning Sprint put out Kitty Kat this morning.

T-Mobile I believe is releasing it now also and Verizon and I think AT&T has not done so yet.

Actually Elector, Sprint pushed out the LG G2 update on March 31. It was rolled out in phases.

AT&T LG G2 KitKat update was rolled out in early March, along with T-Mobile in early March.

Verizon yet again is last, and lied to a forum user saying that LG rolled out the updates, and not the carrier.

Yep I read about the Sprint and T-Mobile roll outs. I did read something different about AT&T so I was unsure about them.

Verizon plays with os updates way longer than the others. But yes they will put customers concerns off any means or ways they can. A real shame.

While want the update right now, I'd feel better if they would at least give us a date for the update.  I bought a Jawbone UP24 activity tracker after the Android software was finally released (only IOS right away).  I get it only to find out that it requires Android 4.3 or higher.  After doing research, everything pointed to the update being released by the end of Q1 of 2014 and as we all know, still no update.

AT&T just sent out a small 6mb 2nd update for their LG G2.  It was to fix the tap and pay and one other thing.  Maybe, I hate to say, VZW is waiting to see what issues other carriers run into before sending us the final update.  No doubt WITHOUT tap and pay in favor of ISIS, which was a fail for me.

Well Verizon just lost another customer. After another headache trying to exchange my faulty g2 within my 2 week window. only to get a "like new" model (that is even worse than the first) after repeating that I would be happy to pay a restocking fee for a new one. I will be heading to t-mobile as soon as this device is paid off. I suggest you all join me. No bloatware, amazing customer service, and the LTE is LIGHTNING fast. Later verison. Thanks for all the trouble and overcharging year after year. Oh and did I mention UNLIMITED DATA at T-Mobile.

Verizon Wireless Customer Support Seriously, fix it or I am going to make it my passtime to get people off of your network. New device, my old data back, or suck it. I was within my exchange period, In store tried to deny anything was wrong with it, online support basically MADE me get a refurbished phone. Ridiculous. The last tech I just tried to resolve it with agreed that I should have been sent a new one, but goes on to say there is nothing he can do. your company is a fucking joke.

Just move to T-Mobile if you think they are right for you. They pay early termination fees but you will pay full price for the device.

They raised the everything plan by $10 and took away corporate discounts.

$80 plus taxes and fees so let's say around $95 plus the device payment of $25 so $120 a month. Great deal and no contracts.

So the choice is yours.

Good Luck

last_wave_rocker,

We do not want to see you go! We want you to have a fully functional device that you will love. What is going on with your current replacement device? What was the reason for the device not being switched out with a brand new device if it was within the 14 day WFG period? We look forward to working with you in this process.

I went inn to Verizon to use my upgrade. My razr was old and i do not own my own computer, i needed my phone. I was forced to give up my unlimited data (that alone just about had me go to tmobile) the only way around was to pay full price. For a 12 year customer? Psh. Well i did because i needed a new phone. I used the phone for 8 days and noticed some bugs i had read up that were associated with defect. Grid prominent in all lights, text messaging always starting at top of the conversation, phone getting hot, etc. I took to the store and besides the original sales guy who helped me, somehow no one could see the multiple issues i mentioned. I went to online support. I still have the conversation with them if you want. I was within my 2 weeks and would have happily paid a restocking fee for another NEW phone, but your rep kept pushing this "like new model" at no point was i comfortable with it but they pushed it on me. Telling me how happy I'll be with it.  It is buggier than the first! I just wanted an up front exchange i was entitled to. The second time i got on wireless support your rep told me there is no reason they couldn't have sent a new one, he was confused why they didn't, then said because i did send my original there was nothing he could do. You guys are a joke, I'm going to tmobile for my unlimited, my current software updates and better phone selections and i got a bunch coming with me. Sick of bs from corporations. We're not all Fucking retarded.

As far as unlimited data, as long as you paid the full price you never should have lost it.

The 14 day worry free guarantee is you put everything back in the box with all paperwork, hand it back to the person at the store, pay a $35 restocking fee and pick out a new device of your choosing. Not get a refurbished device. That was pure crazy.

If there is a price difference in the phones I would simply have the first payment reversed by your bank or CC company. Then recharge the new device again.

But since this is now a sour experience for you, yes maybe it is best you go to T-Mobile as long as they will have service you can use.

Another thing you can do is call your credit card company under their replacement guarantee ( My AMEX and Visa Card has this feature) and tell them you want a new device or just have them charge back the device purchase price and buy another device of your choosing. Once there is a charge back at least you will be on equal footing dealing with Verizon Wireless.

Good Luck

People on Android Central, Google+ and XDA forums have screen shots of the update rolling out last night.  Should be soon.

Post the links?

You sure this is the actual rollout and not the 24A that has been floating around and needing to install it via adb?
