So Google released a killer new camera app for Android today, but my G2 can't use it because Verizon hasn't updated to Android 4.4! How long will I have to wait ???

You will not get an answer here.
Verizon will only give you a canned reply and link you some ridiculous page.

As soon as you plug in the phone, you will see the Verizon Assistant pop up(do not touch anything on the phone). You need to install that fist.
Then down on the lower right corner, you will see a small box about a software update. Once you click on update software, the Verizon Assistant will open up. It should then find your phone. Then click to download the update...just over 2GB. Depending on your internet connection, should be done in half hour or so. Mine took 45 minutes to download, 10 minutes to install.
Make sure you use a Windows machine. Can't be done on Mac.

Update is rolling out through the LG and VZW update utility, built into the phone. Not OTA yet. Problem is, if you have the white model this won't work. IDK why, and it sounds dumb I know, but every successful update thus far is on a black model.

I didn't have the software upgrade assistant, so I installed the driver from LG's site here. After the install, you will see the the assistant and the rest is easy! It worked and KitKat is being installed now.

Not 100% but i'm wondering if the OTA version is compressed more

Probably compressed since there is chance one is downloading over their mobile connection. it would stink to have 2 GB cap then download a update that is more than 2 GB now wouldn't it?

Thanks for the feedback, creator!
I just wanted to clarify that we do suggest that updates are completed via WiFi in order to preserve your data.

Sideways answer for: "Yes it counts towards data usage."
