email issues after the 12b update

, i wouldnt really call it a minor patch since the major point of having a connected device is to be connected. The solution that you offer is commendable and is one that i previously tried but because of the missing functions its a bandaid solution for those who are looking to regain full functionality. It works for you and thats great but not for all.

Same issues! I have called Verizon Tech Support and they told me to either download K9 mail or talk with LG. Neither worked. Now they are shipping me a new G2, but I know that will not work either.

This is a software issue not a hardware issue.

I know how important it is to receive all your emails; I'm happy to help you get this resolved for you. I appreciate you adjusting the email settings a few times. In order to determine what's going on, I need to know your email provider please. In addition, in the Settings Menu, please ensure 'Days to Sync Email' is at least 3 days and you don't have a Message size limit too restricting.

I use three different email addresses. one provided by my employer the state of california, one from my college which is hosted using google apps for education, and my personal which is provided by outlook.com. I have gone through the setting multiple time and they are correct and i have set the sync to push mail from 3 days up to all and none of these setting have given me consistent push email. also i just wanted to make sure to say that i dont limit the size of my incoming emails.

So I received the replacement phone today. The "Push" Exchange email worked great until.... I installed the update. Then what do you know, "Push" no longer works for my Exchange email. As I stated earlier to Verizon this is not a hardware issue, but a software issue.

Thank god someone else is having these issues!! I called Verizon and the two reps I spoke with were no help at all. They tried everything, and in the end still nothing works. It is clearly a software issue and VZW needs to fix this ASAP or I am selling this phone and moving on. I use Gmail, Microsoft Exchange, and AOL and not one of these emails pushes anymore since the update. It's shocking they could do something to mess up Gmail considering its an Android phone! Please fix this ASAP, I can't keep missing important emails when I don't manually update each email.

I'm sorry you're still having issues with your email akinsac. I can understand how frustrating this is becoming. Have you tried to delete the email completely and set it up again? The last step would be a reset on your device yet. Here are the steps http://vz.to/1b7Y6QY . Please keep us posted.

I've reset the device twice. Its some sort of software bug stopping the sync. I assume the same for lack of html email coming through correctly such as showing images from anyone having mail pushed from any domain using m.hotmail.com as a server as well.

I have the same issue. The only way to make it kind of work is to keep the exchange email app running in the background the entire time your phone is on. You can never let the email app close out. This is not ideal for a lot of reasons - which I don't need to explain for obvious reasons. I use this phone for work and when fielding over 90+ critical emails a day I can't afford to miss one.

Like the other day when I needed to reboot my phone while driving. Dumb me, I forgot to right away open up my email app and missed some very important emails by about 1hr. Constantly looking to see if your email app is open is just ridiculus.

For people who don't quite understand - Its like having to check your text message app every few minutes to see if you have any friends looking to chat. ...you don't do that do you? no, you wait for them to appear on your phone without having to check to see if they are there....

LG/Verizon is going to be receiving a lot of LG phones back very soon if they do not fix this problem.

Verizon is pushing this phone hard right now..... with the amount of phones flowing out the Verizon store theres going to be more people with this problem. I'm sure they need to meet their "quota" before Verizon actually steps up and ask LG/Google for some help.

All we can do is keep asking if its fixed yet... Its such a nice phone too.... kind of sucks this feature does not work.

on the top of this issue, i also have another problem.

i have to click "load full message" to see email content.

under "email size limit" setting, i only have "headers only" option, which cause this problem.

I check with my IT team and verizon customer call, but no solution.

I am having the exact same problem, also went through their troubleshooting steps. This is ABSOLUTELY a software problem. I was actually written up at work because I'm on-call and did not receive an important email after the software update that was pushed. For any Verizon technician reading this I've completed every troubleshooting step and it didn't work. When will an update be released this phone is a brick without the Exchange feature working correctly

If people who have this phone and have this same exact problem please sign up and post on this forum. This issue will not rise up the flag pole until more people demand a fix. I really don't want to give up this phone but I might have too.....

Something else I've observed -

If you receive emails while your phone is off they will appear after you phone has booted up. Like "Push" email is suppose to do. This is while your exchange email app isn't opened in the background. So therefore, the phone knows to look for email when powered up even when the app is not running however that is the only time it ever checks email without the app running.

Test it for yourself. Shut your phone off, send yourself an email from another device, then turn your phone back on... it should prompt you that you have an email.

Getting your email automatically pushed to your phone is definitely a must. I don't want you missing any important emails.

What email are you using? Have you tried testing with a different email account? Have you performed a hard reset http://vz.to/L1g0yD since the update on the replacement phone you received?

Let's get to the bottom of this! I want to help make sure you're getting your email properly.

Let's make sure the settings are correct. Go to your email and select Menu>Settings>General Settings. Click on Load Linked images and select Always Load. Then go back to your email and select Menu>Settings>Select your email account>Message size limit and make sure to select "All including attachments".

Keep me posted if you need further assistance after trying the above suggestions.

I did the factory reset twice, no luck.

Along with this issue, I only have" headers only" option under email size limit.(no 5KB, all etc.)

As a result, after click the email, I have to click" load full message" at the bottom of the blank screen every time.

I believe this happened after the second OTA update.

I also found WiFi keep searching signal every 5 or 10 second even under excellent connections. I can still use wifi normally but if this fixed, the battery performance will be even better.

Still having the issues. I know i haven't posted in a few days but i just wanted to say it still doesn't work. Yes there are alternatives such as "touchdown" and the like but i dont want those. I want my phone to work like it did when i purchased it.

I thought I was going crazy with the Push issue as well. Good thing i found this thread before resetting my phone because that was the next logical step. Verizon needs to get this fixed ASAP and if everyone in this forum that has a G2 is saying the issues started after the update. Then Verizon I think it may be worth looking into!! Like everyone else, my phone was perfect up until the update and I even recommended this phone to many of my coworkers. I only use this phone in a work environment so it is critical that my email gets pushed to me. Please document this issues as such and escalate it to LG and those who will aid in getting this fixed because it is a problem.

Thanks for the update! I recommend trying to resetting the stock email application via Settings > Application Manager > from the All tab, select the email app > select Force Stop > select OK > select Clear data > select OK.

I may have found what was/is causing this issue. I'm going to test through today and tomorrow and will update with my findings. So far its working again as it should but its too soon to tell at this point.

like the others have said. no relief from this issue yet. we need a new software update. I imagine the only reason you aren'tbeing overwhelmed by even more user complaints about this issue is because most just use gmail.

The only way to do what they're asking is to remove the account first and then force stop it from running.

815 people have looked at your original post, I agree most people probably don't use this phone for business use aka Exchange email. If GMail stopped working we'd probably already have an update with the fix. I emailed my entire company letting them know about this issue in case more people we're planning on getting this phone.

Funny thing is, I had an HTC Thunderbolt for 3 years and never had an issue, I felt like it was time to upgrade and got this phone only to have nothing but problems

If you are still getting the message that the "master sync is turned off" there is a simple solution to turn it back on.

Access the navigation menu by swiping from the top of the screen. Then select the "sync" tab. (if you do not see the "sync" tab, you will need to select the icon on the top, right of the screen to reveal all tabs). Once the "sync" tab is highlighted, your push service will work again.

Your suggestion doesn't help the Push email problem we've all been having. The only way to semi remotely use exchange email is to have the program running 24/7 in the background. ...and sometimes that still gets hung up.

I believe the "master sync" is on by default.

I waited and waited to switch from the old school Blackberry Bold for years then I liked a bunch of features on this phone. I will not be able to pay for it, however, when I am fired from my clients for not getting emails.

also I am having the issue where there is no reconciliation/sync to the hard account i.e. deleting an email on the phone does not delete it in gmail, yahoo, or the enterprise account.

Don't sell a phone you cannot support Verizon.....

9 different verizon reps have responded to this thread and not one has followed up with a solution or even aknowledged that this is a known problem and is being worked on. HOW ABOUT A FREAKIN' UPDATE!

This started the same time it did for everyone else. When the 12B update came out. Verizon needs to stop jerking us around with the hard rests and try this and try that. This is absolute BS. I emailed my entire company and advised them NOT to purchase one of these phones. And the alternative of using a different app quite frankly pisses me off. The email app with this phone isn't working and I think I can speak for everyone in saying that we want it to work!

As others have stated countless times, the issues started right after the 12b update. Please acknowledge that there is at least a "known email issue". We need to start somewhere!

Dont we wish they would. Seriously admit to this being a major issue with the phone and start on a fix that puts the people you sold the phone in some position of having hope. Currently we have a device that has been handicapped by the VS98012B update.

just in case my point isnt coming a cross VS98012B broke our phones. no amount of resets are cache clearing is going to remove this update. the only fix is another update to repair the damage caused by the VS98012B update.

and touchdown wouldnt solve the issue for me because with that app you can only receive push notification from one account at a time.

I am using an free app called mailwise (beta) to work around this issue. Actually a real nice app and i may wind up sticking with it even if this ever gets fixed. But THIS STILL NEEDS TO BE FIXED!

WinTin - Sorry to hear about the trouble with the G2. Did the problem persist after a hard reset? Was LG able to rectify the problem?

You mentioned that you want to be able to delete a email on the phone and have it also delete on the server. You can setup the account to delete email both on the phone and the server. Here are the instructions, the option is present in step 9. http://vz.to/1lXWYtx .

Same problem here. Our company has several people who are not getting their email pushed from our exchange server after the update. Only way to retrieve email is by opening the app. Very frustrating. I cannot believe that Verizon thinks it is a hardware or settings problem when so many people are posting this information. Hopefully a fix will come soon. I guess it is like a person who has a drinking problem, they have to recognize they have an issue first.

I just got my G2 on Saturday and I'm about to take it back. I didn't realize when I purchased it that Exchange would not push. I am the only IT person at a small company and I need my emails.

I'm sitting at my desk, with my work email open on my phone and I just received 33 emails that my Outlook on my computer received 25 minutes ago. Had phone not been open to the work email app, I'm not sure I would have gotten them at all. When I woke up this morning, I had one email from 9:15 last night. Right after I closed the email app, 15 new emails flooded in that I had actually received between 10pm and 5am.

Same issue here. Have tried every fix advised by Verizon to no avail. Need fix ASAP. If you flash the phone to before this horrid update, the email push works great so Verizon don't even tell us that it's not a software issue. Fix your product that we pay entirely way too much for. This is absolutely unacceptable.

Forgive me for sounding like an ass, but why is everyone asking Verizon to fix this issue? You all realize that LG produces and maintains the Android rom for the G2, right? Make the issue known to Verizon, but don't bother asking they fix it, they can't. Hit up LG on Twitter and voice your issue to reiterate to them as well.

And fwiw, I have the same issue, and no VZW support, I will not reset my phone, or put it in safe mode or continuously add and remove my Exchange account. I've been on Android for over 4 years now, I'm well aware of how to manage my settings and accounts.

I have noticed though that when I'm connected to my company WiFi, push works fine. It's only when I'm on mobile data or any other WiFi that it doesn't work.

you're not sounding like an a** at all. You're right. I hit up LG and Verizon . everyone should do the same. Verizon does however have the ability to report widespread issues to LG and light a spark under their a**. Verizon, this is a wide spread bug.

As the other fellow replied there are atleast two of us that have notified LG as well. Verizon on the other hand has alot more weight behind them to push for a fix as well. So why not a two pronged attack in getting this issue fixed.

This issue is caused by the VS98012B update which verizon approved as functioning properly and they were the last to sign off on it working.

Oh don't get me wrong, I completely agree that Verizon has weight behind them. They just can't fix it, that's in LG's court.

which is the reason both of them were notified. LG is more likely to respond to the multibillion dollar corporation putting pressure on them because of customer dissatisfaction than they are to some dude on the internet.

I just sent in the following email service ticket to lg and advise others to do the same...

The stock email client is not updating properly with exchange emails (my hotmail account is working properly). More often than not there is no notification when new emails are received. I have tried both push notification and timed refresh and neither works consistently. The account will, at times, only update with a manual refresh. Third party clients like "mailwise" and "k-9 mail" work properly with exchange. This problem occurred after the 12B software update. Everything worked fine before that update.

There are threads on the Verizon Community forums (search "email issues after 12b update) indicating that this problem is affecting all LG G2 users with Verizon.

I just got my LG G2 back from LG after they had to do a software reset under warranty - it came back with 12b and I'm also not receiving push emails. So you can't get much more "stock" than that - I have no other apps installed, no modifications, nothing - just set up the email and it hasn't worked, so I really hope Verizon doesn't reply with their standard script of resets, or conflicting apps, or any other nonsense. It doesn't work. Unreal. Hope this gets fixed soon.

Yes, I have set it to automatic push. This isn't my first android. I've tried every possible setting I can think of, but it doesn't push. I even changed it to 5 minute updates at one point and it doesn't update.

Are there any hard facts as whether or not the ATT and Sprint versions of the G2 are also experiencing this issue?

Somehow I think the only timely solution will involve what Verizon considers a 4 letter word (Rxxt) followed by the installation of a custom rom.

I too have placed a service request into LG for assistance with this issue through email.

My wife's LG G2 from sprint does not have this issue.

The emails come in to her roadrunner mail account almost instantly.

Her GMail is a separate app and works instantly, but she has only the RR Mail using the stock app.

The issue addressed in this thread is in regards to Exchange email push/sync issues. Your wife's G2 is not exhibiting this issue because she is using Gmail and RoadRunner email , neither of which are Exchange services.

I too use Gmail and the default email app for an old Bellsouth email account and those work just fine.

I have this phone and have not experience this issue. Please remove the exchange account, power cycle the device, re-add the exchange account, and retest to see if the email is pushed to the phone. If this does not resolve the issue the next step would be a hard reset http://vz.to/1bEaoQu.

Well, LG is giving the same "song and dance" response as Verizon. This is the response I got over the weekend...

"Thank you for contacting LG Electronics. I am delighted to hear from you as our valued customer, I do apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced and I will be glad to help you out here.

In this case try to delete the email account first. Once the email account is deleted from the phone, try and re-add all the data into a new account setup and see if it works. If you could try different exchange servers that would be great to see if one connections; in that way you will know if the issue is the server itself for some reason or the exchange server system.

It could be a glitch we are dealing with here. Let us try a Hard Reset to see if it helps solve the issue. Power the phone off for about a minute or so and then power it back on. Once the phone turns back on, test out the exchange server system again and attempt to connect to it. You could as well try a factory reset but that will erase all the data in the phone memory. Not sure if you would like to try that. If you do, there are some steps to follow:

1. Turn the phone off.

2. Press and hold the following keys at the same time: Volume Down Key + Power/Lock Key on the back of the phone.

3. Release the Power/Lock Key only when the LG logo is displayed, then immediately press and hold the Power/Lock Key again.

4. Release all keys when the Factory hard reset screen is displayed.

5. Press the Power/Lock Key to continue or either of the Volume Key to cancel.

6. Press the Power/Lock Key once more to confirm or either of the Volume Keys to cancel.

If you ever have any other questions, doubts or concerns at all, please do not hesitate to contact us again either via email, or by calling our customer service division at 800-243-0000 at your convenience."

For what it's worth, I've downloaded and installed the 4.4 version of the email client from here and it's working awesome. Enable installs from unknown sources in the security menu then download and install these two apks...

Got it installed and configured and we'll see how this works.

That is one solution but some functionality is lost with that solution such as syncing tasks also i cant remember if i had an issue being able to add new contacts to my exchange accounts using those APK's also resizing emails to be more easily viewed such as shrinking them down while not affecting the font size isn't possible either. all of those functions are reasons why i use stock email clients. It is a great interim solution though if you can get by without those functions.

Any answer or are we just going to ignore this problem and hope it goes away? just wait for kit kat to come along then roll the fix in with that?

I don't see them releasing a minor patch for this since it affects a

minority of users and KitKat is right around the corner.

I'm quite happy with the KitKat email client I mentioned a few posts

before. It's just like the Gmail app, only for non-Gmail accounts. If

LG's KitKat doesn't have that client, I'll be manually installing it.

Same boat here. And every time I make any changes to the email client I have to put in a helpdesk ticket because my IT team wont provide the information. Therefore pretty sure Touchdown is not an option for me (although it's my phone, they're pretty strict about how you access their servers). Just piling on this thread in hopes we get some tech support because I haven't even seen evidence they're looking into it yet. This was exactly why I was hesitant to get an LG.

I have the same problem as everyone else. I was extremely happy with this phone until the update. I purchased the app Moxier mail which has solved the push problem, but I'd much rather be using the stock email app for various reasons. And I'm sick of being treated like a child by Verizon and LG reps. I've been working in IT for 23 years. It is not a hardware problem since the phone worked fine before the software update and still works fine with 3rd party apps. Quit the useless replies that rely on your little troubleshooting flow charts and fix the damn problem...

I hate to say this, but I've come to the conclusion that my desire for a truly stable and reliable mobile device platform now outweighs my original desire for greater customization options. In my opinion, the Android platform is too disjointed and unorganized to provide excellence in the areas of software and hardware quality and reliability. Team Verizon/LG has convinced me that my next phone upgrade will be, for the first time ever, to an Apple device. Of course Apple is not perfect either but from what I've seen they are FAR more responsive in acknowledging and resolving issues.

So, I have an acceptable workaround in place for the Exchange email sync issue and now the long wait begins until I can upgrade to an I-Phone without breaking the bank. Hopefully there will not be any other mandatory updates which break crucial G2 functionality during that time.

Are you even reading the original complaint? There is no way you could possibly think that your response is valid. How many different people have to say they have tried this? At this point you would be better off saying nothing. You are only making us more upset by repeating directions that don't fix the problem. Activate your own LG G2 and update it. Then see if you have the same problem. Then follow your useless suggestion 15 times and see if you get the same results. Maybe then you will feel your customers frustrations.

A friend sitting next to me running all Apple hardware (iphones in his family, appleTV and mac at home, macbook pro here at work) would be to differ with your assessment of Apple. Their recent software changes are just as problematic for end-users. This entire attitude of "customers as commodity" is prevalent in all facets of economic culture today. Very few businesses treat us as something individually valuable. (There are a few, but none in the context of what we're talking about)

This is how I fixed my coworker's G2 Exchange problem...

Removed the exchange account
Application Manager > All > Email > clear cache and delete files
Add new exchange account and entered my usual settings EXCEPT for one: I changed the "account name" when prompted rather than leaving it as the default "Microsoft Exchange" name. (I doubt this has any effect, but I'm including it anyway).
I chose to sync only Email and for only 3 days.
Once i confirmed that everything was working, I set it to sync calendar/contacts/tasks and changed the email to sync for 2 weeks like I normally do.

I have no idea if any of these steps or the order I did them in had any effect on the issue, but the push email is working just fine now. I have a G2 as well but I have not had the push problem that everyone else is having, though my coworker had the problem. One thing i have set differently: I set 12am - 5am as "Off Peak" hours and set the email to update every 10 minutes during off-peak times just to change things up to see if it helps keep the email client "awake" and so I have all my overnight emails ready for me when I get up in the morning. Whether or not this is why I have not had the push problem I can't really say.

So, after a week of dealing with this issue - and blaming my company - I finally discovered this thread. It's good to know I'm not alone. I only use the native email client for my work Exchange email. It has worked perfectly fine, until last week. My company requires us to change our passwords every 90 days and after that, push ceased functioning. I tried all the tricks mentioned in this thread, starting with deleting the account and re-installing. Oddly, I could actually get my Sent and Drafts folders to sync in real time (push), but not my Inbox. I was unaware of the 12B update and am more than a little pissed that Verizon would push an update to my phone without giving me the opportunity to decline to install it. I never willingly install updates until I've vetted them on the web. In any event, based on suggestions here I am trying Touchdown and that seems to be functioning, though it is a far less than ideal situation, and I will have to start paying for it in 30 days which is completely unacceptable - not the money, per se, but on principle. I understand the discussions debating whether this is LG's or Verizon's fault but, frankly, I don't care at this point. Verizon pushed this update to my phone and made my phone virtually unusable for necessary business applications; Verizon needs to fix it. I am normally very patient with and supportive of Tech Support personnel, but the responses I've seen in this thread are maddeningly rote and unhelpful. Please, Verizon, get off your butts and do something about this. Sorry if I ended up "venting", but thanks for the space. I will check back here and hope for a solution. Fingers crossed.

Only chance of it being fixed is in the kit kat update. VZW refuses to acknowledge that there is an apparent issue. I know they are currently working on approving the new release since lg released the source code to them quite a while ago so fingers crossed that it gets fixed.

To my knowledge this is still a problem or at least its still a problem with my phone. My new habit is to check email every 10 minutes which is making me go crazy.... The only thing you can do to make push email work 80% of the time is to keep the email client open and running in the background. Meaning you can not close the program out EVER!

I hope we get an update soon..... I love this phone but need my email to work flawlessly!
