Why att iPhone 7 Plus won’t work with Verizon network.

Help. I think I was cheated. I got a AT&T IPHONE 7 Plus that I contacted them to unlock bc I got from 3rd party. I went to Verizon an they pushed an 8 Plus on me an told me it won’t work with their network. I had to give them hundreds which I did not have and I want to know why it won’t work if it’s unlocked.

Which phone model do you have? The models A1660 and A1661 for the iPhone 7 and 7 plus have the CDMA radios necessary for the Verizon Wireless network. The AT&T models appear to be A1778 and A1784 for the iPhone 7 and 7 plus. Neither of these two models have the CDMA radios and are not compatible with the Verizon Wireless network. iPhone 7 - Technical Specifications - Apple

Being able to bring your own device is always a nice option, GrumpyGirl. As Ann154 mentioned there are some models of the iPhone 7 Plus that are not compatible with the Verizon network. You can always check device compatibility here: https://www.verizonwireless.com/bring-your-own-device/

Verizon is abandoning the CDMA technology by the end of 2019. 98% of all Verizon traffic is GSM.  I bought a new factory unlocked iPhone 7 Plus 1784. Is the non-compatibility truly a component issue or is it a policy issue at this time?

The A1784 model isn't compatible.
