If you are thinking of switching to Verizon because they are offering you $200 rebate per line you switch, think again because you will not see your rebate...if you do, you probably had to spend hours, weeks, and months battling with customer service agents making a lot of promises and apologies but not delivering or correcting.
I switched to Verizon in December 2024 and purchased 4 iPhones. Each line was promised a $200 rebate to be issued in January 2025. I used the online chat feature to make the purchase and rebate and confirmed with phone call discussion to Verizon and a discussion with a live agent that we would receive the rebates before signing the paperwork. We then got our phones, submitted the rebates, and waited. For two weeks straight in January, I checked the status of the rebates everyday online. Everyday, the entire Verizon site was working fine except the rebate status portal was mysteriously unable to connect. On the day it finally worked, it indicated that all 4 rebates had be denied because they were invalid. So I called Verizon and spoke with an agent named Roxy. It took about 45 minutes of being on hold and her checking things but she finally said that when the rebates were submitted, Verizon entered the wrong promo codes and that the code entered was only valid at some locations and not online. She spent some time finding the correct codes and submitted the rebates again with me confirming via email. I asked what Verizon was going to do about the mistake and the time it cost me and she put me on hold again and came back several minutes later. Her answer was that an incident investigation had been opened up to look into whatever Verizon previous agent had entered the codes and there would be corrective action. I asked what would happen if this new rebate submitted was deemed invalid and she promised it would not, as she had checked and double checked that we met all the criteria. Well, guess what I got today(February 8, 2025), 4 emails saying there was a problem with the rebates and suggesting that I check their status online. Sure enough, all indicated they are invalid with the reason being that they are only valid at certain locations. Nice work Verizon, at this point I have to decide if more of my time and anxiety is worth the chance of actually getting the promised $800 rebate. Is this part of the verizon strategy?
