$300 Verizon gift card

Last Dec, my family switched 2 lines to Verizon’s Unlimited Welcome plan and also started a new line under the Unlimited Ultimate plan.  The latter was eligible for a $300 Verizon gift card rebate.  We bought the plans/phones through a customer representative over the phone, and had the phones activated by a store representative, who also completed the rebate forms for us.  We had no knowledge whether all the forms or the purchase order was done correctly.  But, now, I am finding out that the purchase order was done wrong by the Verizon rep.  He failed to put the $300 gift card rebate in the shopping cart, thus causing my rebate to be “invalid”.  Verizon should honor my rebate because the error was committed by one of its employees, not us.  I have tried to contact the store rep who activated our phones and submitted the rebate forms for us, but to no avail.  I tried contacting customer service several times, and a couple of reps have promised resolution, but so far, nothing.  Verizon customer service really needs a lot of improvement.  I don’t see how Verizon can retain customers at this rate.  As for our case, we may have to find another way to get Verizon’s attention.  FCC? Consumer protection agencies for deceptive practices?
