This has been hands down the worst experience I’ve ever had with Verizon—and that’s saying a lot after nearly 8 years as a loyal customer. I went into a Verizon store to upgrade my iPhone and was pitched a "loyalty promotion" for a free iPad. The sales associate explicitly told me the device and the line would be completely covered by Verizon, and that I’d only be responsible for the surcharges and sales tax. That turned out to be a complete lie.
To my shock, I started getting billed not just for the surcharges, but for the device line itself. I immediately contacted Verizon and explained that I was misled and purchased the iPad under false pretenses. A rep agreed, issued a return label, and I sent the iPad back promptly. That was WEEKS ago.
Despite being told repeatedly by five different representatives that the charges would be removed within 3–5 business days, the iPad, line, and even the activation fee are STILL on my bill. It has now been over 25 business days. The last person I spoke to claimed to be a senior executive, promised me everything had been removed, and assured me it would disappear from my account within a few days. Yet again—I log in, and there it is. Still there.
I’m beyond fed up. Verizon clearly has no problem letting their sales reps lie to customers just to close a deal—and then make empty promises to fix the mess. Once my phone is paid off, I’m done. I will be taking my business anywhere else.
