New phone deal

customer21years

Earlier in 2024 I was contacted by a Verizon rep about a new phone deal. Trade in My S10 for a new S23 earlier in 2024.  I was told to go to a local store and pick up my phone which I did. The salesman was less then attentive but went in the back and got my phone and handed me the bag. I asked about set up and he said you can do it yourself or we can charge you. I tried to turn in my S10 phone and he said ,we don't want your phone it is too old. I took my new phone and left. A few days later I ran into someone who was in desperate need for a working phone, so I donated my S10 to them. A week later an envelope comes in the mail, it is to return my S10, I am now confused. Going back to the store they didn't offer any solutions and the employee I described was no longer there, according to them. I had an S8 so I mailed that in and of course Verizon rejected it and now I am paying full amount for my S23. I have called and begged them to understand the miscommunication and it is obvious because why would I give away a phone that was worth $800 to me in the trade. makes no sense right? I am a customer for 21 year and a veteran who is now retired on a fixed income.  Now Verizon is giving away phones for anything to trade, but they cannot adjust my bill and help me to correct this problem cause by the salesman at the store, not giving me correct information. I have paid a couple hundred already and just ask they forgive the remaining amount. Many calls and begging but they say they cannot help me. I know they can do something but they refuse.  All the salesman at the store needed to say to me was, you'll be getting an envelope for your phone to mail back to Verizon but no ,he said they didnt want my phone.
