Like so many others, we purchased 4 new phones at Costco in November 2023 because of the gift card promise. We’re nearing the 3 month mark. Can someone please follow up with me?

 I’ve got some helpful info on how the Costco gift card timeframes and when you can expect certain things to happen. First off, Costco waits 90-days before processing the gift card promotion for qualifying customers. The 90-days is their return policy window, and naturally they don’t want to process promotions for returns. So the first thing is to wait for those 90-days to pass. Following that, they process the promotion, and you’ll receive your gift cards via email within 14-weeks. I know that’s a long timeframe, but that is what Costco has indicated. In my experience dealing with this, Costco usually doesn’t need the full 14-weeks to send the gift card email. Still it may take that long based on what they’ve shared with us.  

 

One thing we found is it was important to check your email for the gift cards. Costco sends the gift cards from the email address, "costco@digitalshopcard.costco.com." I highly recommend checking your Inbox, junk or spam folder, for any emails from that sender. In many cases, the customer I was working with found their Costco gift cards by looking for that email. Please if you could check your email, I’d appreciate it. If you searched and didn’t locate it, just let us know.

So if you had to cancel your plan and pay off your device, you would still receive the Costco card as long as you had kept it 90 days(so it couldn’t be returned).  The text on the receipt says something about 60 days of active service, which is odd since after 90 days you would already have more than 60 days.  See below  from receipt:

Costco Shop Card
Device payment or full retail purchase with new or upgrade smartphone line on service plan required. New lines receive a $250 Costco Shop Card; upgrade eligible lines receive a $100 Costco Shop Card. Shop cards won't be delivered until after the 90 day period. You can expect delivery of your Shop Card 2-3 weeks after the 90 day return period. Offers will be delivered digitally via the email on your VZW account, verified at the time of purchase. A physical card is available upon request. Eligible service lines must stay active a minimum of 60 days to qualify. Costco Shop Cards are not redeemable for cash.
