I just signed up for a $3,250 contract ($90/month/36 months) that came with a free iphone
My first bill showed up at $128!
They added bogus charges!
- a "taxes and government fees" charge (there are no taxes or fees imposed by the US Gov't on a mobile phone plan)
- a charge for a service that was supposed to be free
- and penalized me for not having auto-pay set up. I had auto-pay set up on day 1!
I made the mistake of contacting Cherry in Verizon Customer Service, who proceeded to argue with me over why I should just pay them the extra $40 this month and accept that she'll get some of it fixed for the following month
After much arguing, eventually agreed to take off the charge for the free service
After more arguing, eventually agreed to take off the auto-pay penalty
I asked how to begin the process of cancelling my plan and she lied to me about it! She told me I'd have to pay the full $1200 for my phone, then return the phone and pay an additional $50 restocking fee!
I was only thinking about whether I should cancel the plan at that point but this pushed me way over the edge! I'm going back to t-mobile. Your nickel-and-dime billing practices are awful, and your customer service is awful.
I'll pay the $50 restocking fee and consider it a lesson learned. Never ever do business with Verizon!
