Hello,
Has anyone's Motorola Razr Maxx HD been updated to KitKit OS as yet? If you have please chime in and let us know what you think about it?
Thank you,
GLR
The DROID Razr Maxx HD is scheduled to be updated to KitKat 4.4, but I don't believe it has been released yet. https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/prod_detail/a_id/90449/p/30,6720,8579
It hasn't been released yet.
Well I'm guessing that since the Moto G started getting KITKAT on Feb/5/14 that hopefully our razr hd maxx will be the beginning of March or sooner, after all it's suppose to be released by the end of March.
I got this Update Last night and the OS build before it) I can't elaborate to much on the OS as I'm new to phone and to K.K so the more I see and the more I know I will post on it but as for getting the Update I got mine last night.. b33
New Droid Maxx Owner..
Do you own a Droid Maxx or Droid RAZR HD Maxx?
The Later one the Droid Maxx..
Since my time to add to my post Ran out I will throw in a Screen shot I took of my Droid Maxx.. Here below.. Enjoy b33
It will be good to get the update, the phone seems slow, and KitKat is all about running faster and cleaner.
Just to let the Thread know I took my Droid Maxx back to the store because of an Issue and since getting my new Replacement I have not updated to Kit Kat and my Maxx is actually doing better that is with Games I load and play and other uses so if the Jelly Bean Os is working good on your phone and your not having any issues I keep it as is for a While anyway until the some of issues I seen in it are calmed down.. But as for my I'm not updating for a while unless I really need it. b33
I suggest to recall the phrase "be careful what you wish for." The experience with one of Verizon's first 4G phones, the late, and unlamented "Thunderbolt," is a case in point. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTC_ThunderBolt
The phone was offered to customers just as Verizon was rolling out its 4G network. The phone frequently dropped sessions and in some big cities, like Washington, DC, had to be run as a 3G phone due to 4G tower spacing.
That said after some firmware upgrades, and improvements in the 4G network, the Thunderbolt turned into a useful, if heavy device, with awkward extended battery and thick back. About two-and-half years after its release, Verizon and the vendor (HTC) rolled out an upgrade from Android 2.2 to 2.3 resulting in significant performance issues.
The ThunderBolt had a second generation 1Ghz Snapdragon processor manufactured by Qualcomm. It simply didn't have the processing horsepower to keep up with Android advances.
In short, what was at least a feasible phone, albeit heavy with the extended battery, became a slow poke in the 4G fast lane.
I upgraded to the Motorola HD Razr Maxx in soon after and was glad to see the end of the Thunderbolt.
Now the current phone that I have is running 4.1.2. It works fine. I read that in January 2014 when the first upgrades to Kitkat (Android 4.4) came out, it bricked the phone. https://forums.motorola.com/posts/944892be33
If I were you I'd see patience as a security blanket against the prospect of a dead phone or one that would make you more unhappy than you are now.
If you really want a device with Android 4.4, upgrade to one that already has it.
I've had firmware upgrades in the past to several different phones and never had a problem. Usually people have problems because their phone isn't fully charged or is in a weak signal area which can cause the data being downloaded to get corrupt or the phone dies or gets shut off in the middle of the download or install and messes up the upgrade. But if something does happen and I cant fix it or Verizon then I'll just buy a new phone..
I heard that only the razr maxx hd was getting the kitkat update, not the razr or razr maxx.
That is Correct only the new Family of Droids are Getting 'KIT KAT' Droid M, Droid HD, Droid Maxx HD Droid Mini, Ultra, and the Droid Maxx) the Droid Razr, Droid Razr Maxx and the Droid 4 are not KIT KAT upgradable but there is a small maintenance update that is out that is suppose to address a Few issues with these Devices a Google search will point out this update..
Yeah. the official ota for my device fixes some roaming issues in Canada, and one other meaningless thing. Oh well. Guess i'll update manually. Thanks for the clarification.
your welcome.. b
So I got this text from VZW today and it say's
Free VZW MSG. Get the latest Android OS 4.4 with KITKAT.
Update your isis wallet to kitkat now go.vzw.com/isiskitkat. A device restate may be required. Data rates apply.
So here I am all excited to get KITKAT finally so I click on the link and it takes me to google play store to download isis wallet which is dated dec 13 2013 and I already have it installed. But no OS KITKAT download. Even went to about phone and it says my device is up to date also plugged it into my laptop and used Device manager and it says I have the latest firmware.what a let down had me excited as heck and nothing downloads. Tell me were going to 6 flags get in the car "car starts" lololol I was just kidding, :smileysad:
On your Droid Maxx or Ultra if you don't have Kit Kat yet installed I wouldn't worry about it, As I've mentioned through this thread and another one I took my First Droid Maxx back to my Local Verizon as it was having issues after installing Kit Kat OS..
I'll add this in the K.Kat OS and the OS before it is somewhat big so when I do my installs I do it with a Fully charged battery and hooked up to my Wi-Fi to get the Best signal saying that. My updates went smoothly both of them I had a Customer Rep on the phone just to let the Rep. know how the procedure was going along and if i had any Questions..
But for as smoothly as Downloading of the 2 OS's went, I thought at first things were going to be Ok with my Maxx as it was before I done the Downloads but I seen difference's in it, Maybe If I'd cleared the cache and ran a Factory Reset as it's a good practice to do before a big update I held back on doing it and just took the Update but on my Maxx that I currently own I going to wait a bit before I do the Deed let things settle as I have before on previous updates.. So I thought I'd pass this along to ya and let choose the course to update or not update it.. b33
Well the Moto X started getting KITKAT on 2/21/14 and Moto G on 2/5/14 so us RAZR HD's should be next here pretty soon hopefully.. The anticipation is killing me I can't wait. Come on Verizon push that button..
I am hoping that we receive the update in the next week or so especially seeing as I use ISIS Wallet and received a text on the 19th saying "Get the latest Android O.S 4.4 with kit Kat. Update your ISIS Wallet to Kit Kat now go.vzw.com/isiskitkat. A device restart may be required. Data rates apply.
I know wasn't that text such doggy doodoo. They write it so you think your downloading KITKAT and all it was, was ISIS update I was so excited and then realized it was boogus crap.
kool371, I know I get excited for new software releases. To stay on top of the latest releases for our devices, click here http://vz.to/1bCKL5B Thanks again for the feedback and hope you get connected using that ISIS wallet soon!-PeterV_VZWFollow us on Twitter @VZWSupport
With the issues this Software is producing I wouldn't be saying how exiting it is! I had to replace my Droid Maxx because of this lovely software, my replacement Droid Maxx I'm not updating it till I see some better results from it.. So I think it best not point out to any one to update for a while any way..
Well here I still wait for my KITKAT update just over 20 days left in 1st quarter 2014 told we'd have it by the end of the quarter and still nothing we were passed up when 4.2 came out and it's looking like we're going to be passed up on 4.4.2 as well. After all we're told we'd be updated by the end of 1st quarter 2014 2 different moto models got the update in Feb but not a single Motorola model so far this last month of the quarter we were told we'd get it. I'm thinking by the time our RAZR HD's get it the phones will be worn out after all my unreplaceable battery is at the point it's only holding the charge for half the time it use to hold power. I call CC and every CSR I speak with avoids my question and tells me how all 3 of my lines qualify for upgrades to upgrade and get a new model with KITKAT already installed it would be something I'd consider but not willing to loose my grandfathered unlimited data plan like my friend unknowingly did.
In response to below, I am sure Verizon should be a bit sheepish about being behind Sprint and T-Mobile!

It's official: T-Mobile, US Cellular, AT&T and Sprint have released the OTA update with KITKAT for Galaxy S4's. No more wondering if we are last to get, the answer is: Yes We Are
I try not to be a negitive person but I like to be as honest as I can, on that note ISIS Wallet isn't worth the little amount of storage space it takes up on my device it was an app I was highly considering using when they had the prepaid card option but once they removed that option it's a useless app. After all in order to use it we have to have either American Express card or Chase Bank account so since I don't have either and don't want to switch from my credit union to Chase bank the app is worthless.
ISIS still has a pre-paid card option with American Express Serve. This is a prepaid card.:smileyhappy:
Droid-Life got a hint that there is a Software Test Drive coming soon to the Razr HD, Razr Maxx HD, and Razr M from the Motorola Feedback Network. I would be surprised if its not KitKat.
http://www.droid-life.com/2014/03/17/software-test-drive-incoming-for-razr-hd-hoping-its-kit-kat/
Their doing a TEST for something but normally the Email that goes out says its a soak TEST or software TEST the weird thing its this email doesn't say anything about a software TEST. The quarter its basically over and the update still hasn't been released. And I'm getting lots of app updates from the play store and every update I've got crashes the app now when i try to open it after the update. I don't know if the updates are for apps running under kitkat or what but they sure aren't working under jelly bean any more. But this is my last post about kitkat I'm tired of waiting for the update and being told all kinds of stuff so if my phone says there's an update great if not oh well. My phone will be due to be replaced by the time its released anyways.
Is the Droid RAZR m going to b updated to kitkat
According to Motorola, yes.
@Kregdm,Having the latest software is definitely exciting! No need to worry because once updates are available they will be automatically pushed to your phone. You can visit http://bit.ly/n5snpq for the latest announcements and information.JohnB_VZWFollow us on Twitter @VZWSupport
you are 100% correct. To quote Dodgeball, "[Isis] is as useful as a poppy flavored lollipop".
The fact it's only available in select markets under select circumstances renders is useless for just about everyone. It is a shame VZW chose to go that route than say Google Wallet. And, if you're root, like any responsible Android user is, Isis won't even let you in.
So, being root with Titanium Backup, I did what everyone should do: remove the VZW crapware - including Isis. Oh, and froze the updater. Enough of the 'GPS' fixes that lock bootloader exploits.
Silly VZW taking away user choice. Jerks.
Rumors are that it is coming in a few more weeks. Here is a Droid-Life article on it.

Soak Test Invites are going out.

Just downloading KitKat this morning. It did not come automatically but I checked for updates and it started to download. It will take about 30-40 minutes to download and install. Finally!!!!!!
