When you plug in your phone, a little icon pops up in the notification bar, lower right corner of your screen. It looks like a tiny, cartoonish little version of your phone. Right click on it and it will give you options for what you want to happen when you plug in your phone. I selected "nothing", and it stopped. It's an annoying little feature, huh? Hope this helps!

I have a brand new phone and this does not work. Perhaps something to do with changes in Android mentioned elsewhere. How the hell do I stop this? It's driving me bonkers.

Works on my ICS Razr Maxx just fine. I even switched it on and back off and the phone is recognized as usual.

With Ice Cream Sandwich on the DROID RAZR MAXX by Motorola, there is no longer any “charge only” option when you connect the phone to your PC via USB cable. When I connect the phone to my PC, the browser on my PC opened every time and played a Verizon video about Backup Assistant Plus (BAP). Annoying, because I don’t use or want BAP. I downloaded BAP and installed it on my PC anyway, hoping that I wouldn’t see the video anymore. Then, when I plugged in my phone, BAP opened on my PC every time. More annoyance --- I don’t want to see BAP! The only thing to stop the noise from BAP that I could find is to go to “USB computer connection” and select “camera PTP”. Now, the phone charges and nothing else happens.

That is part of the I.C.S OS but even though it's not present it still will charge ) However the best Method to Charge the Device is with the Charger that came with in the Box...

That is what I have read too, to charge the phone via the charger, not USB. I have never heard of the reason, though.

Allot people had issues in the Past Charging Via the there Computers. This is why i have Suggested to so many to charge with What comes with the Phone the Charger in the Box. It's Designed to give the right amount Volts to the Device and it Regulates it as it's doing this.

I found this solution works well for me:
"Either click or right-click on the moto-helper icon in the system tray (that loads when popup is loading), that's where you disable the browser opening. (I did this by checking "do nothing". And so far it hasn't loaded since.)
Hope this helps,
Phil K.
