Dads & Grads Special Offer

Verizon lowered the price on the Razr Maxx from $299.99 to $199.99 in early May and two days ago, I received an e-mail with the Dads & Grads $100 off for any motorola 4g smartphone. Doing the math ($199.99 - $100 = $99.99) doesnt seem to apply in Verizon's interpretation and they claim the $100 discount already applies to the former lowering of the cost in early May. This to me seems misleading and is a good example of false advertising. Coincidentally, I'm due for an upgrade with an additional $50 (now down to $20 since they did away with the new every two). Am curious if anyone out there has experienced this problem and managed a workaround. Sure seems Verizon's ethos for customer service and interest to keep long standing customers have gone by the wayside!

I noticed the same thing. I was trying to decide between the Razr Maxx and the S3, called a rep last night and found out that yesterday was also the last day for the "double your data" deal. This company is becoming way to slippery.

Think it's time to try another carrier. Kind of sad, I've been with VZ for years.

i agree. i knew the MAXX was $199 a few weeks back so when i saw the dads and grads promo i figured it would be $99. it seems like all they did was bump the prices back to what they were when these devices were brand new, and then knock $100 off. i guess on some of them it is a deal, but, for example, the droid 4 is now $99. my buddy bought that on february 29th for $99 on a different promo. i understand that promos come and go, but this one in particular seems pretty weak.

This is really too bad. I've been with Verizon Wireless for 10 years, and I've never had this sort of experience... until now. I also believed the cost of the phone was $99.00, and then believed the Dads and Grads promotion would bring the cost of the phone to $0. I was traveling and upgraded two phones through the telesales group. The problem with the transaction was that the sales rep corroborated everything I understood. Therefore, I hung up the phone with her confirmation of my understanding that the purchase price of $99 would be offset by the $100 Dads and Grads promotion. Perhaps she didn't even understand the promotion either. Now I'm over the 14 day mark and stuck through the end of these contracts. I have five lines with them and will pull each one over to a different carrier as they come up. It's unfortunate. I take responsibility for buying these phones on the run; ordering over the phone, etc. However, Verizon does not seem the least bit interested in finding a remedy that involves a return of the phones...or any remedy for that matter.

it was a bit misleading because they had marked down the maxx to $199 and razr to $99. they had been those prices for a while. then, they advertised the $100 off dads and grads program, but marked the phones back up to $299 and $199. to anyone who had seen the prices over the prior few weeks ($199 and $99) the ad appeared to be an additional discount. it was similar to a company marking something up 50% and then blasting a sale ad of "50% off!!!" i'm not claiming verizon did anything wrong, but i can see where customers felt misled, or at the very least, confused.
