Data Problems Getting Ridiculous

For about 2 weeks now I have been having serious data issues. I will be going along just fine, then the 4G icon will turn white then I get nothing. sometimes it will turn blue again, but more often than not the 4G goes away then it is just white bars. When this happens I am basically holding a $300 paper weight. Sometimes an airplane mode toggle will help other times it won't. It also seems to have big troubles switching between 4G and 3G.
This is either a network or a device issue, I never had an issue like this in the year that I had my iPhone on VZW. I also don't have any issues when I am on WiFi (which isn't that often because I travel with work). But, even when on WiFi I can still set back and watch the data icon change from blue to white while it does it's little dance.
Had the SIM card replaced 4 days ago, but it started doing the same thing with the new card before I could even get out of the parking lot. When to a different store yesterday and her grand suggestion was to turn the 4G radio off if it is giving fits. WTF, I didn't spend a small fortune on this thing to be told that I can't use it's key selling point. Verizon or Motorola wherever the problem lies, needs to get their heads out of their backsides and get this crap fixed. Feeling ripped off right now.

This seems to be a problem with a few of us. There is an app called "restore connectivity" which seems to help a few users with their connectivity problems. Try that app and see how it works on your phone. I downloaded it myself and it didn't help much at all. I changed sim cards with no avail. I called tech, he refreshed my phone as if it just got put on the Verizon network. In other words, he refreshed it. The phone worked good for 3 hours or so then the connectivity problems started all over again by the end of this afternoon. Long story short, they are sending me a " refurbished phone ". Good luck to me, not sure if that's going to be better than my current phone or worse. we will see. Good luck.

the restore connectivity app is useless its nothing but a toggle and acts the same as a soft reset, I for one will not stand for this on my device, I have issues with data since the 2nd week of owning my device and was told by CS Rep to turn 4g off and I went ballistic on her, asking why would they sell a product whos key feature is useless? her reply was.....4G is still new and not perfected yet.....Do you believe the Gall of this company.

Well there Updating the Towers in the City i Visited today an the Rep i know Well said that there has been at Various Time's the 4G is spotty an is Not Working as it Should.. So i would give it a bit an something to Remember even though they may have put 4G in your Area all towers might not be up in Running with it.. And some Towers in your area may have to Be Fully re-done to accommodate the 4G technology.. that in itself take some time..b33

in the past week i have been in Dallas, then had a 2 hour layover in Nashville before returning home to Birmingham. I experienced this same problem in all three cities. That tells me that either the network itself is experiencing big problems, or the phone is not up to par. And if it is the network, it would be much less of a big deal if they would just come out and say that there is a problem. Starting to wish I would have just kept my iPhone, never had problems like this with 3G

Well it's hard to say Mesii i'm Not giving the full Nod to Verizon but when you Start something Just a little over a Year ago and there trying there Darndness to get what they got Done and there Going to do by the End of the Year. There bound to have a Slip up here an There an as Mentioned Even though there is Maps Showing Coverage There are a Heck of allot Tower in those area's that have Not been Switched over.
It's Just like the City of Wichita.. if you Look on Verizon's Coverage Map you will see that it Covers a Wide Area of the City.! But the South West of the City is Just Now getting the Towers Updated to 4G. That's Changing the Elements an the Equipment in the Buildings on the Tower Site that takes Time and is one Hell of a Dangerous Job for the Tower Climbers..But to See what you mentioned in all three Cities Well that's hard to Swallow.. When your wanting your phone to work for what you Bought it For.
It's Just like were i Live our City is a Fair Piece in Size But when Verizon Decided to Do the Next upgrade in Ks they Skipped us Went out West to 4 Smaller Cities even though we are only 18 Miles from the nearest 4G tower. And there were allot of Hot people in this Tower because of it..But i guess our Turn is in the Fall i won't keep my fingers Crossed though..b33

problem is that this is happening in areas that previously worked perfectly. I'm sorry, but when I spend 300 on a phone and 250 a month to keep my lines up, forgive me if I expect stuff to work as advertised. I'm sorry but when you have no data connection to work with this phone is a brick.

I have been having the same problem in the Chicago area since about 6/6 on a Droid Bionic. If I run SpeedTest, I have about a 50/50 chance of it completing without a data disconnect. First noticed this happening while using Navigation. I rebooted today and removed the battery. No change, and very frustrating.
I've received the Bionic 5.9.905 update, which was suppose to improve the data connection. I am still frequently being disconnected from 4g. If I switch to 3g, then it is completely stable...I just cannot stand the 3g speed after zipping along on 4g.

I was having the same issue on my HTC Thunderbolt for about a month now. My husband has a Galaxy Nexus and has no problems, so I figured it must be my phone. I bought a Razr MAXX yesterday and am having the same problem, leading me to believe that it must be the operating system (his Nexus has Ice Cream Sandwich). Any thoughts or insights from anyone on this?

I just bought the razor maxx and live outside of charlotte n.c. My phone seems like it has more white bars than blue. i cant even surf the web anymore. My droid x never had a problem. Tried switching to 3g only. The same result. There is a problem here and i hope they can fix it fast for the amount of money we spent on this stuff.

Which build do you have on your TB???

Thanks for the suggestion, Budone. The salesman did check my Thunderbolt to make sure it had the most recent firmware update, and since the Razr MAXX is brand new, I have to assume it also has the latest, but I'll double-check, just to make sure.
Forgive my ignorance; not sure what you mean by "build"?

The build number on my new Razr MAXX is 6.5.1-167_DHD-14_M3-8. I don't have my Thunderbolt anymore.
