Greetings Community Members! Thanks to all that chimed on on bmann's concerns over the software update to the Droid RAZR. Even as I write this, the update continue's to roll out to Droid RAZR owners! Please allow up to two weeks for your update to apply to your device. Bmann, if by February 20th you have still not gotten your update, please let me know by posting to this thread. I can help. Thanks!

What exactly was improved?  And I use that term lightly.  I got my update this morning only to find it rebooted with a SIM card error AGAIN!  This is the second time now, and I haven't had it a month yet!  I spent an hour and a half with the tech, who reset it to factory settings.  But I don't know where my Gmail backup is.  And so far, I have found at least three apps that I don't want or need, and I'll just bet I can't get rid of those either.

I'm beginning to really hate this phone.  Truly.

I received the update to system version 6.12.173.xt912.verizon.en.us this morning. Since receiving this update, my phone has not been able to connect to the network. The mobile network state says "disconnected"

I can send and receive text messages and make phone calls, but none of the services that require internet connection work.

I had that problem last night, although my phone showed four full lines on wifi connection.  It totally froze.  And I got the same update you mentioned.  I'm taking my phone back for an exchange, a month of this is a month too long.

njluke & jerseystitcher:  I am on my THIRD Droid Razr handset, I have never had a problem with a Verizon phone before.  While the store keeps insisting it is an app or basically my own fault their tech support had me start it in safe mode and when it got stuck in the boot loop in safe mode they determined it was a hardware issue and exchanged it via mail, the second one is doing the same thing, I got the local manager to agree if the third one does it he will trade me a different phone I bought it in the beginning of December and am on to my 3rd one.  I have had to do a factory data reset on the hand set I have now 4 times in the last 3 days I am tired of getting it all set up and preferences set just to have to wipe it again!  If it happens again this next phone is going to go somewhere that no phone should have to...where the sun doesn't shine...

Since it's updated and I got problem with CALLING.  Call just hung up itself after one ring and I called the same number it goes through. It doesn't do every call I make but it really bothers. I'm wondering if this happens the other way around. Also, google keyboards in landscape mode just all over the place. It can't seem to know what I want to type. Too many mistype and sometimes going really crazy. Last thing, switching between 4g and 3g didn't get improved after update. It just get lost like before. Disappointed.

I wonder if the sim card needs replaced. Have you tried a factory reset?

I wouldn't do the factory reset only because just hate to go through all the steps where I am now. And I just found that keyboard crazy only happens when I plug the chargers in. Nothing perfect in the world, I understand. By the way, It's got new sim card.

I revived the update and it failed to update and wouldnt recognize my sim!

I did a factory reset and it froze my phone..  I have had 7 razr's with problems and I should not have to deal with this. They told me I can call motorola...wtf gfy! I am a costumer ...you call! They said I can switch out my phone for a droid charge or thunderbolt...are you joking you ass hole they sell for ten bucks on ebay. They said that there was no know issues for the razr on their system...bull shit the last ten techs told me there was..with the screen and battery and with 4g not holding. Then she said the update was to fix the battery life...but you just got done telling me there was no know battery issues..so they must of just been updating it for??? the razr maxx has a bigger battery and a screen with a different glue to fix two know issues. thats why it was released 4 months after the razr...they sure know how to sell bullshit?? or do they?? being a part of the purchasing department our 300 employees will be choosing a different carrier soon.

Since my software update, I've been having the same issue.  I try to type something, and it goes CRAZY!  It's like the phone is possesed.  It starts to type on it's own.  I went to my Verizon store, only to be judged.  The representative insisted I show him what the phone was doing.  I go to type... and the phone DOES NOT act up.  Go figure!  I proceed to tell him that it isn't acting up and ask him what my next step is.  He says, and I quote,"There is NOTHING we can do about it.  If I can't see what the phone is doing, then there isn't anything I can do.  You need to understand that if the phone is in good condition and we give you another one, Verizon is out a phone."  So now I'm a liar??   I just got a new phone yesterday and guess what?  NOTHING different!  After the update, the NEW phone started to act up again.  The darn thing is possesed too!!  It types on it's own, opens applications, ect...  This is very frustrating, especially with reps like the one I spoke to.  It's like, admit the problem and FIX IT!

I Got a couple things i want to ask:

1.Was the Sim Card that was in your previous Razr installed in this Razr that you have Now: The reason i ask is that Sim might be what's causing your issue's on your Device that you have now..,,

2. When you got your Razr that you have Now did you install the exact same apps that was on your Previous Razr if So one of your Apps might be causing the Key Board to have the Issues your Describing. You might putting your Razr in Safe Mode then go to you Key Board and see if the issue persist.

3. One other thing you can try is Going to Settings--> Applications-->Manage Applications-->Scroll your Top banner to the Left to select All Then Scroll the page Way up till you get to Motorola Key Board when you get to it Tap to go in And clear the Cache and the Data then Tap the Home button then Power off your Phone then Turn it back on and see if the issue persist.. Good Luck b33Smiley Happy

Yes, the same card was used.  See... the deal here is, no one wants to admit there is an obvious problem!  If they were to admit the problem exsists, this would be an entire different story.  I would have walked into the store, the rep would have gotten a new SIM card (or whatever the case), and FIXED it.  But he insisted Verizon was going to be out ONE phone. Since my phone wasn't 'acting up' at the point in time.  Riduculous!

But yea, it would make sence.  Maybe the SIM card is corrupt?  I refuse to walk back in there and ask for a new SIM card.  Watch them judge me by sayin,"When did you become a technical support agent?"  To answer your question about the apps, I only use apps that come with the phone.  My phone is used for business purposes, that's it.

Software updates are great to have! They bring so many wonderful new features and enhancements that our customers feel like they have a new device! As exciting as software updates are, sometimes they have glitches. The issue that you have brought to the attention of the community is greatly appreciated. In order for me to investigate this issue for you I will need some additional information. May I ask you to send me a direct message with your full name, mobile number, contact number, and a summary of the issue? I can't get over how many ppl bitch about battery life.  Do you ppl not own a charger?  I use my Razr moderately I would say, wifi all day long, hundreds of txts a day, phone calls, browsing and my battery will last from 6am to 9pm without charging in the middle of the day.  Everyone has access to a charger in that time span. No matter how good the phone, ppl will bitch about it.

njluke:  I feel for you, Verizon tech support AND the store keep telling me I am the only one...I think it was the update that killed my first one but I am not sure.  I bought it in mid Dec and it was great for about 4 or 5 weeks then it "caught" the re-boot loop syndrome.  Called tech support and tried to start it in safe Mode but it croaked and was in the loop even from there.  So they said it was a hardware issue (I have only once in 11+ years had to trade a phone) sent me a "refurbished" one...I still have that one BUT have another in the mail.  In the last 5 days now I have had to do the factory data reset 5 times or so and if I install ANYTHING new even a theme for Go Launcher (from the Go Dev team so NOT infected or anything) it will croak and re-boot over and over and over, until I short circuit it and do another factory reset.  I went to the store yesterday and tore the head off the manager when he pissed me off saying things like well you have a lot of  apps on here and arguing about how Google only reinstalls the apps you pay for automatically, I beg to differ!  Idiot...WHY are the store staff not on the same page as tech support when you have a repeated issue?!  IF this phone takes a crap I am done no 4th time for me.  After a LONG talk with the manager and telling him WORD for WORD what tech support told me he agrees.  Of course when I told him to look at the forums on his OWN company site he could find none...again idiots...he told me if this one soft bricks he will trade me another phone.  I am just not sure which one to go for...none of the other Android phones have the capabilities of this one (granted when it works that is) and never really thought about iphone but I am re-considering now...this is some crap.  I operate an auditing firm and it is REALLY hard to operate a company with a piece of technology that is inoperable.  I integrated my LIFE in to that phone before it took a dump it connect all of my techie toys to me and to each other.  My earth is off axis at this point and it is painful and weird.  Sounds stupid for a phone but it is supposed to be more than just a phone isnt it?...I'll keep an eye on this one to see if there are any response and I am going to forward this to the manager of the Puyallup, WA Verizon store so he is aware I am not a ditzy moron who broke the only 2 Razr phones on earth that have my problem!
