I was getting ready to check my text message that just came through on my phone. I clicked the unlocked button and I was getting ready to slide to open the text messages and it would not let me slide it through. Then the screen went blank and I tried to unlock it again and the only thing that was on is my home screen buttons are still white ( option, home, back and search) and what is even weirder is the green text message light is still appears. Does anyone know what to do? Anyone have this same problem with their Droid? Would really appreciate suggestions/help.

That’s not good! We all rely on our phone to stay connected so I definitely understand your concern. But don’t worry because I’m here to help!
I've haven't heard of this happening before. Did you try powering off the device for a minute or two? This usually helps when the device is unresponsive.
If you are still unable to access the main screen of your phone after powering cycling you may need to take the phone into a VZW store for a hands on evaluation.

My phone is doing the same thing. I noticed it was lagging a few hours ago and now the screen is stuck on home screen but I can only get that to pop up if I plug it in. It has nearly a full charge. It won't let me power it down. It's completely frozen.

Phones are very similar to computers in that they sometimes need to be reset. Since you can't pull the battery on your device, I have another suggestion!
You can perform a Soft Reset (same as a battery pull) by following these steps: http://bit.ly/ObB6uU
I would review your applications to find out what may have caused this. Do you have any Task Killers, Antiviruses, or Battery Savers?
These applications may cause system instability, so I would recommend uninstalling them.

A soft Reset as John and Mel suggested --> Should Help this When i Do a Soft a Reset I hold Down on the Buttons For at Least 20 to 30 Seconds Tops then i Let Go of the Buttons.. the Phone will re-Power on it's own, One thing to NOTE sometimes when doing a Soft Rest! When you first Hold down the Buttons the phone might want to snap a Screen shot if it Does don't pay to much to it. Keep the Buttons pressed till the Phone powers off then Count to 30 sec.
One thing you two can Do if you'd Rather not Mess with Greeting Circle you can go into the Settings and then to Security) when you get there Tap Screen Lock then Tap None Then Tap Home button then Tap the power button to shut off the screen.. Tap the power button again and the Lock screen will Disappear. That is till you go back in the setting and check to Return it. I have mine off and it's been that way since I.C.S came out..
