Droid razr continually freezing/locking up.

This is becoming a serious frustration because i end up doing a hard restart on my phone about 20 times a day. I did a factory reset with a recovery once last week. My problems continued and i did it again just yesterday.

My phone is still locking up on me and i want a reason as to why this is happening. I have no viruses on my phone, all apps are turned off and it still locks up.

If someone could please help me i would be very grateful.

When you say that "all the apps are turned off", what do you mean? Are the apps installed? I would either run the phone in safe mode, or do a factory reset and only connect it to Google for your account, and run it like that for a few days to see if it happens.

Cmoscor, I don't want you to be frustrated and want to help with your phone. Is your phone freezing on any specific action or task? If you have an antivirus, task killer, or battery saver app installed, please remove. After the hard reset, were any applications automatically re-installed?

We'll mines doing the same thing kind of. On battery power I noticed that once it hits 40% battery you search the web or emails or even to some texting it will lock up or freeze and then let it set and it reboots on its own. Then it will lock up upon restarting and do it again about 3 times in a row. Did a factory reset yesterday and today sane thing.  So since it off warranty I eaither deal with it or do an insurance claim.  Sorry about high jacking your thread.

My guess is it's either an app (try SAFE mode for a while to see if it's an app) or a bad battery.  Since your problems seem to happen at the 40% battery mark you may need to get the battery replaced.

I was leaning towards a battery since posting had on charger and on charger now and no problem.

Did you update your Razr with the latest update the reason I say it may be the reason for the battery changes I'm seeing  some minor changes in my Razr Maxx's one thing I noticed was when I was on a call the Volume seemed to change on it own it increased and then lowered.. I'm watching closely at all the systems on it one thing that does not work well or at all is the Google+ and it's Photos app..

I would try running a clearing of the cache Partition and try running a Power Cycle but if those fail to give any better results then you may have to run a Factory Reset and that is what i may end up doing but with my one app Madden25 that I got it's making me hold off because I don't loose what I've built up on the app and the money i've put into it..

We then may have to wait and see a new maintenance update will come out so far my battery is doing ok but I've stripped allot down on my apps I also use System Panel app you might install it I've use it 4 years know and all I can say is it's a Top app it will show you what your phone is doing and how the apps running and it will show you batt. and CPU temps and battery level as well.

But sometime you have to take a big gulp an run another Factory Reset to make sure if fully clears any stubborn or hanging files and before you run another F.R. I'd suggest running a clearing of the Cache partition.. as i mentioned I may have to run one my self..

Hang in there and Hope things turn around on the Battery issue.. b33

Hi Maryanne

I would love to help you today. To clear the cache on your device you would go to Settings> Apps> Then choose the application you were looking to clear and press clear cache.
