Eliminate mystery notifications?

I keep getting Notifications that aren't specific as to an email, voice mail, etc. and they clog up my Notifications bar.  The symbol is an explanation point ! in a circle, and the text says "Notification".  How can I find out what's triggering them?

Does it give any explanation when you touch that notification?  Usually means something didn't work.

No, it doesn't.  The Notification just disappears.

Have you looked through your text message app and the conversation threads there to see if there were any messages that had errors.

The other thought is they are related to weather alert notifications if your phone and area supports them.

I have had this issue since I got my phone in Early June.

Hello johncal. Are you still receiving these Notification Alerts? We're here to assist in figuring out what these alerts may be for. Ann154 offered a great suggestion in that they may be caused from a weather alert app. Have you tried running your device under Safe Mode to see if they are caused by a pre-installed application, or by a third party one? Use these steps to activate and disable Safe Mode: http://bit.ly/TreB3E

If they continue to appear under Safe Mode, then they are caused by a pre-installed app, but if they no longer appear, than that means that they came from a third party application downloaded from the Play Store.

Let us know the results if you are still encountering this issue. Thank you johncal, and everyone that has contributed to this post. Take care!
