Extreme amount of white noise during video recording

Has anyone else experienced an unacceptable amount of white noise and/or hissing in the background of videos taken with the S5? I've only had the phone for like a month and a half, but the audio on videos I've taken sound horrible. I thought it may have just been picking up the wind or a loud computer fan, but it happens even in a silent room. It doesn't happen when I have the headphones connected and it's recording the audio from the mic in the headphones, so I'm guessing there's something wrong with the mic in the phone. I've done some searching and have found people with the same problem, but there doesn't seem to be a solution besides getting the phone serviced and praying it fixes the problem.

Is this for all videos taken or video messages that you are sending?
Does it happen when you take a video while the device is in Safe Mode? http://vz.to/1mFGTH4

It happens for all the videos I take. I don't send video messages, and it happens even while I'm in Safe Mode. Here's a video I just took (while I was in Safe Mode) of my window; it sounds like there's a waterfall in the room.

Thank you for the information and the helpful video. Are there any cases or screen protectors on the device? Is there any physical or water damage? Please share a few more details.

I have a case but the first thing I did when I thought there was a problem was take it off and test without the case. There's no difference; the audio in recorded video still sounds horrible. There's no damage of any kind and it's been nowhere near water.

Thanks for all the updated information dmitchell16 and for testing your phone issue without the case. I know this is frustrating but we are here to help get it resolved. Are you using a 3rd party video appliction from the play store? If you are using a 3rd party video application we recommend temporarily removing it. If you're using the stock application to record videos, we may need to replace the device.

I'm using the stock video app. Sorry it's been forever since I replied. Got super busy with work and forgot to follow up. Took a video today and was reminded instantly that something was wrong.

A cell phone is gonna pick up any and everything. If it's that important get a dedicated video camera.

No worries dmitchell16. We know life gets busy but we are still here to help with this issue. Your phone may need to be replaced. We recommend stopping by a coporate store when you have the time to have them perform a hands on evaluation to check out the issue in more detail and to ensure theres no damage to the phone. Once we have evaluated the phone we can discuss replacing it.

I'm having this same problem. Is there a fix for this? I just recently noticed it because I have been taking outside videos and jsut recently started taking inside videos since I got the phone. There has been no damage to the phone and it has been in an otterbox commuter case since day. Please advise. 1

tinkcrafter, we want you to be able to take your videos and enjoy the audio without any hiccups. Let's look more into this so we can get this fixed together. When did this start? Has it work normally before? Is it only the audio that is recording affected?
