HELP! I have no idea what to do!?

okay, so i downloaded the Easy Battery Saver + task killer application by EASY DEV TEAM.   i was messing around with it, and i changed something that i really dont like.  I have had my razr for about a week now.  For the first few days, there was the (in order from right to left) time, battery, signal, 4g, and then wifi symbols at the top bar on the screen.  Somehow, someway, a setting on the phone was changed through this application that made it to where it either shows the 4g/3g symbol or the wifi symbol, but never both.  This has also given me considerable lag time from switching in between them.

My question is:  is there some setting on my phone that I can change to get it back to the way it was.  I could care less about battery life at this point as long as my phone does what i want it to do.

Thanks in advanced.

If you are using wifi, your 4G/3G is not being used and visa versa.  I use Juice Defender and it manages them so 4G/3G shows when I'm on wifi but it is white, or not active. If I am on 4G/3G my wifi doesn't show.  I don't recall ever seeing wifi showing when I'm on 4G/3G but JD only activates wifi for the particular networks I use.  I don't think your RAZR normally shows your wifi symbol when you're on 4G/3G. You could email the developer (easy.dev.team@gmail.com) and ask them or, as Jim suggested, uninstall the app, depending on how committed to it you are to the app.

Juice Defender is a great battery saver app and comes in a free version as well as two paid versions depending on your need (compare versions).  It doesn't have a task killer but if you read this article you might decide it is not something you want to use.

i don't use or recommend a task killer or battery saver.

you're just adding something else to draw on the battery & the task killer is needed the next time you use the offending app/s to kill it/them.

the original battery saver application was uninstalled even before i posted this.   I tried JD just now.  it doesnt seem to be helping anything.  Any idea as to a place in the settings where I can get it back to normal.

i do NOT want to do a factory reset.

i don't blame you.

many folks here offer that reset without mentioning to the newbie that virtually everything must be redone, only the sd card remains intact.

The only time I ever see the wifi and 4G/3G on at the same is if I'm on wifi, and then the 4G/3G is white.  Are you thinking you saw them both up there all the time and both blue no matter what?

i dont think i ever saw them both blue, but i would really like to have them both back up there.  Also, when im away from home and leave wifi, I will not get 3g for about 30min.  and then i will randomly lose it for about 5 min at a time

You will only see the 4G/3G icon when you are in where it is.  If it's white, it's not connected, like if you are on a wifi network but there's 4G/3G in the area.  And you will only see the wifi icon when you on a wifi network so I wouldn't have the expectation that you will be seeing them both all the time or something's not right.  If I'm on 4G/3G but not wifi, I don't see the wifi icon either.

As for not getting 3G signal, that may have to do with your signal strength in your area.  I also have it where it may drop off for periods of time. This is a known issue that VZW is aware of and working on.  Last month there were 3 pretty big outages across the country but this month it's not been like that (knock on wood).  They are rolling out their 4G and also adding more customers and my understanding is this has caused some problems on their network lines.  It's also possible that in your area for geographical or interference reasons, unrelated to VZW, you may have spotty coverage.   So don't think you're alone in that or it means something's wrong with your phone.

On both those issues - icons and signal - what you are describing does not sound unusual or like something's broken to me.

Not that I'm hearing. They were sporadic. But my point is don't worry about little times without data because that's not a sign of a problem with your phone.

I'm in SOuthern Il, marion. I live on outskirts of good 4g, will get it sporadically, and handshakes off fine to 3g, Drive in country 30miles between offices and get 3g with good connection. I keep for battery lifes sake- gps, wifi, location services- off and may set cdma mode-3g and turn off data enable; only if realy want more life. had my DRazr 2wks after gnex- ickd out x2. NOT bothered with any taskkillers b/c posts i've seen sounds more problematic than worth.     Notification bar shows ? for any wifi available, if wifi set to on/and notify; top left with 3/4g active, first time use or if that wlan been removed from active list; vs for AUTO connect need leave wifi available after close of "desired/selected" network at end  of session.    So, WIFI ON and conxtd = NotFicatxn bar =  Blue light 4 wifi, just to left of white 3g/4g icon. Again Wifi to be observed requires it turned on, plus in "WIFI settings" chkmark- allow for phone to notify u of network -( open/secure options) so it connects when in proximity to it.   Hope this is of some help from new razr user, becoming quickly acquainted with phone, keeping it simple, in similar region.  AS for signal look in "about phone" area in Settings for signal strength; I've seen range -75 to -83dbm- as i txt, 4g, 3 blue bars, with updated os, only couple dwnlds slowly adding to avoid conflicts?. I know somewhat repeat of above replies, just maybe stated slightly different approach/perspective brings a light. I'v travel i-57 to/fro KKKee and find dead zones.

This sounds a little like what I have my Smart Actions set up to do.

Under normal circumstances you'd not see both WLAN & the 3G/4G indicators unless you had both turned on and I'm not sure why a person would do that, normally it's an either/or type thing.

When my WLAN is on, the 3G/4G indicator goes away and I just have Time, Battery, Signal and WLAN.

In other words, if you want to see both, you need both turned on - and that's REALLY going to zap your battery.

Are you using smart actions? This is resolvable w/o doing a hard reset, just takes a little troubleshooting. I would NOT install any other apps until you get this figured out.
