How can I unlock the screen, all I get is a vibration when I touch the lock

I just cannot openup the droid turbo screen, when I touch the lock all I get is a brief vibration highlighted with a green marker on the icon or symbol,but nothing further. I tried re booting the phone sevral times, with android starting and optimizing the apps but cannot get into the phone
