How do I connect my device to a Windows 10 PC via USB?

I am unable to connect my Droid Turbo after some unknown update to either the phone OS (android version 5.1) or the PC OS (Windows 10 Pro). USB connection does not show up in windows explorer and there is no POPUP upon plugging phone into usb port. Tried both MTP and PTP still no joy.

do a search for usb driver for your droid too.
