How do I get driving mode to work?

I have unable to make driving mode work.  The icon shows that my Moto X recognizes that I am in driving mode, but it will not speak the name of a caller or read a text aloud like it says it will when I am driving.  I have the "Talk to me" box checked in the Assist app.  Any suggestions on how to make the driving mode work?

I'm sorry you're having a hard time with the Driving Mode feature on your phone doggies! Let's see what's going on. Are you able to answer calls & texts while in Driving Mode? Please try turning on TalkBack. You can do so by going to Apps> Settings> Accessibility> TalkBack, then turn on. TalkBack will read your screen out loud.

TalkBack makes everything I do on the phone "talk" to me!  I just want it to happen when I drive.

I am able to talk or text while in driving mode.

I have been trying to figure this one out for a couple of weeks, too. No success yet. I, too, have all settings checked for driving mode and phone ringer is on. I'm going to try and figure this out and will let you know what the problem is.

Hey, doggies,

I think the problem may be in the app that controls it, Motorola Assist. It seems since the last update of the app a couple of weeks ago, the app isn't working as it should.

I went into Play Store and looked at My Apps: All and found Motorola Assist and uninstalled it. I then went into the screen where all my installed apps are located and clicked on Assist. I set things back up without updating the Assist app from the Play Store. It is late right now and will try everything again in the morning. I will report what I find.

It works! Use the steps I listed above and your calls can be answered or ignored and texts will be read as they should be while in driving mode. Hope this helps.

Hey Doc thanks for Posting this info)  Doc I can't remember did you get the 16 Gig or the 32 gig Moto X i'm on the fence which one to get if I go 16 I can get it at the store if I go 32 I have to have one sent to my Door I like to see what I'm buying before I buy it but on the other hand I prefer 32 over the 16 what your thoughts on that..  Thank you b

I went with the standard black 16gb Moto X. I don't save music or movies to my phone, so this one is getting me by. As far as pictures, the Google Drive cloud works well, and I got an extra 50gb of cloud storage free for 2 years.

It is a great device. I recommend it to anyone.

Well you helped on my decision a little more than were I was.. I'm light on the music and the pictures as well and I heard about the cloud storage I'm going the full retail route to keep my unlimited my B-Day is just a few days away I think I'll spurge on one Now should I get the black one or the White one I never had a phone that was white as the Moto X is but I think the black one would be easier to take care of.. Doc when i get it I'll be sure to let your know if I can send you a Direct Message I do it that way if it's ok..

For sure!  and Doc a Snow storm is coming our way actually it's not to far away the snow is falling in south west Ks and it starting to fall here were suppose to end up with 8 to 10 inches ready for that pretty white stuff b
