How to stop sounds when I startup and power off the phone?

Does any one know how I can shut off the annoying Droid voice sound when I turn my phone on. Also, how do I shut off the female voice saying "loss of service" when I power off the device? Thanks.

I don't know about the Droid voice if you mean during bootup.   But the other I believe is Menu>Settings>Sound Settings and uncheck Roaming tone.

I think Menu / Settings / Sounds / Uncheck "SD card notifications."

Did they change this option, i may be wrong but I thought the roaming tone usually make the voice alert that says Verizon Wireless when signal connect and disconnect..

I think I'd read that the roaming thing worked, but I've not had direct experience with it either, Wildman.  Hopefully flyfish will post back and let us know.

There's also a Network Tone lost - both of those are unchecked on mine.   The Android User's Guide I have doesn't mention either one of them.

Yeah we experianced that with the Droid X when it came out, the manual did not cover a number of little options like that and we had to play the trial and error option..  Smiley Happy

Yes, I was able to uncheck the Roaming Tone option and that stopped the "loss of service" voice. I already had the Network Tone and SD card notification turned off.  But I am guessing there is no way to stop the "Drrrroidddd" sound at startup?

Oh - I just realized that on my Razr the correct filename is droidhd.ogg (not droid.ogg).  Still in the system/media folder, just a slightly different name.

Yup.  So people will have to listen to it.   It doesn't bother me, although I swear it used to be louder.   Maybe my hearing's going, lol!

I understand but I thought Motorola would add this as a option on the newer devices since they added it on the Motorola Droid X after users complained about it....

I know there is a few apps on the market that is suppose to be able to stop this sound on boot but I never used them and I am thinking they may need SU access also which makes them useless..

Well Wildman me an Sally was Talking about the Led light.. i said how i like how it when you first plugged it in it would start out as a light Green an as it progressed it got deeper in Color kind of like a slide rule.. An as soon as Moto busted out the New update witch was good but it done to the Led in the Razr just as the same as the X an why Motorola Could not Work around this is beyond me. They Obviously designed it in the Package of things that went into the phone when they sent them out to Verizon that is Unless Verizon added it when they got them an Added there Stuff.  An then.. when Moto Pushed out the Update it Killed that Feature of it.. I guess that how it could be looked at.. I'm Racking my brain trying to figure it Out! b

I don't think there's any system setting way to stop the Droid sound. If you can go to /system/media and rename Droid.ogg to Droid.bak I think that will do it, but I think only rooted phones have that option.   It's quite soft on some phones, but louder on others.

Glad you got rid of the "loss of service" voice though.  At least the bootup sound effects are only when you boot up and not throughout the day.

I have mine set as yours, except I have Audible Touch Tones (for the dial pad) and Haptic feedback (vibration with certain keypad touches) checked.  But just to humor you () I unchecked those and turned my phone off / on.   I still hear the animation/Droid sound.

Try putting your phone right up to your ear - I'm pretty sure one audio file (Droid.ogg) provides the animation you're hearing and Droid sound.  It's one recording.  You just might not be hearing it if it's soft.
