Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) is NOW Available for Download

Everybody.... ICS is now available for download via your Droid RAZR/RAZR MAXX Via Settings, System Information and Checking for Updates.

Please let us know how you like it. Your device will need approximately 2 hours to complete the upgrade.

The download and installation lasted approx 45-55 minutes but the rest of the configuration lasted an hour or more thereafter to finalize system and software settings.

An example of how this is determined is application hangups and latency in processing for simple commands like executing a text message.

Please be patient. If it takes longer, let us know.

Enjoy

Hi - my update has been running for 4 hours 20 minutes; the screen shows the red eye; and periodically the phone announces "Droid".  I cannot use my HTC Android. Is there anything I need to do, or just wait it out?

Plz help

thanks

Try a forced reboot:
Press the volume down and power buttons and hold them until it reboots. Good luck and post back with the outcome!

Clearly... Since you know from direct experience and if somebody you know who has it said it took 10 minutes... its 354mb of data they must have a great connection

It took approximately an hour on my Razr and most of that was configuration, the d/l wasn't long. There is MUCH configuration after the initial reboot - then it was about 24 hours and my market apps updated - about 20 of them.

4G is in the ball park of 10mbit correct?

Ok 1mbit connection pulls down 1/8 of a megabyte per second

10mbit connection pulls down 1.25megabytes per second

@ 1.25megabytes per second gives 75 megabytes per minute

354 megabytes should be pulled down in roughly 4.72 minutes

Please correct me if my initial assumption is incorrect. Due to networking being a dynamic system this can (and will) vary.

Note: I did not take into account if a kilobyte is 1000 or 1024 and so forth for megabytes
