AK is Alaska not Arkansas.
What are you referring to? Their phone numbers have the Alaska area code? Update their address to the right location?
Address there is only a drop down for state and you can't leave it blank so
the first state code is AK Arkansas
Does the drop-down not list the abbreviations for Canadian Provinces?
Have you tried adding the addresses through your Google/Gmail account via the website and have it sync to the phone?
If I edit the address right on the phone I can do it

When you add the address in backup assistant it only has a drop down box
for the state i have to go to my phone and edit the address it's a pain but
it works when you have a lot of addresses to enter doing it on the back up
assistant is faster but then i have to go to my phone to edit it
