I just want to know if they plan to release is 6.0 for my droid turbo
Google writes the code, then it has to be embellished by both Motorola and Verizon to make it ready for a new phone. If you look here
https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/software-upgrade-news/g_id/1949
and answer the questions, it says that it's still planned to happen.
Check with Motorola. They are the ones writing the code.

David, I don't know what RONFLE22 is looking for. I can tell you from my perspective that there are issues with Bluetooth in older cars which many have complained about, where the calls suddenly get disconnected from Bluetooth for no reason, often the only way to start using Bluetooth again is to switch it off an on again on the phone. Also whereas it used to be possible to transfer a call to bluetooth at any time, now you can't transfer it until the call is actually connected. While it looks as if the call is transferred, it actually isn't.
In addition, most people want Marshmallow because it's been available for many other phones for months now and in fact the successor to Marshmallow is already in the works. Those of us with a Droid Turbo, who have been promised Marshmallow, are still waiting for it. It has a lot of usability improvements.
It's just annoying talking in chat groups and getting boxes with x's in it because I don't have the marshmallows 6.0
What's frustrating to me is having one device already using marshmallow, the other still at lollipop. I like them both the same! lol
check for update today manually.
@LENNYEDGE are you saying that you think there will be an update to Marshmallow for the Droid Turbo today? Do you know someone that received the update on their Droid Turbo? I haven’t seen anyone mention it on the Droid forums.
5 other devices getting it. cant assure you.
several Galaxy models have received the update in most regions, including the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S5, and Galaxy Note 4. Both the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge were launched with Marshmallow pre-installed.
Each manufacturer has a different schedule for releases. I don’t know why the Droid Turbo marshmallow update is being delayed. Perhaps one of our Verizon friends can help since it’s Verizon (not Motorola) that pushes the update?
Samsung's releases are not in any way related to Motorola’s update schedule. Motorola downsized their staff for OS updates so their previously fast releases have slowed to a crawl. The update won't be ready until Motorola has completed the soak test and they have received technical approval from all parties involved including Verizon Wireless. There has been no mention of a soak test for the DROID Turbo (1) that I can recall on the tech news sites that follow Motorola closely.
If Motorola still has it listed on its update schedule for MM, then it "should" get it eventually. When is anyone's guess.
Verizon, you are Slacking again...
We want Marshmallow, because it's been what, 10 months since it's release.
The only issue I have is when using GPS on the phone, I can't get the sound to come through the car speakers, it just Mutes the sound, but I can still take calls through the Bluetooth/Car speakers.
I've read that Motorola has released Marshmallow to Verizon sometime ago. I've also talked to a sales rep from Verizon stating that Verizon is having major issues with the software for the Droid Turbo. Not sure if they will even release it now. He just suggested to get other phone that has the update already installed. He is very concerned about OTA installation of Marshmallow even if it is released.
Motorola couldn't have released the update to Verizon already. Verizon doesn't do the coding for the updates. Each phone build is unique to that model. Just because one device has it doesn't mean another model can use that same build.
Not sure if it will ever get released. The Droid Turbo has been discontinued by Verizon.
Basically we can forget Ever Seeing a OTA Marshmallow Update for the Droid Turbo. Especially now there is the Droid Z out. This has VZW to Blame since it was an Exclusive Phone and they obviously did not want to push it out. This Phone is Newer than the Note 4 and it got Marshmallow not too long ago. I am Giving up on my Droid Turbo as I am looking at the Droid Z Force. Not sure if I have Learned my Lesson yet with Carrier Exclusive Phones. I'll Probably get burned on that one too.
Well as far as I'm concerned this is my last Motorola phone and Verizon if you are listening when my contract is up I will be looking around. I believe we have been lied to by both of you.
"Lied to" is an understatement ! More like "mugged". They will force you into whatever plan that makes them the most money. If you don't do it, then you just pay a higher "Line Access" fee !! Whatever happened to the "discounted price" of a phone, when your two year contract was up ? Whatever happened to the two year contract ? Whatever happened to Verizon being appreciative towards long time customers. Now we have to pay more than a non customer. They are interested in trapping new customers. With discounted devices, waived fees, etc ! What happened to Verizon ??
Well come End of the yearbi plan on paying off all my phones and leaving Verizon. Im done paying 330/mo for 4 lines with empty promises and an empty wallet. Will switch to another provider where my wallet will no longer be empty. Its been a Rollercoaster 13 years but i wont make it to 14 with VZW.
I know how you feel! We have been loyal customers since 1996. I don't believe they care if they loose a few customers, they are not what they used to be. Our Droid Turbo phones were flagship phones and we are being treated as if they were bottom of the line! Fool me once shame on you...fool me twice shame on me!

Not sure what you mean here. I am still on the More Everything Plan, I was not "forced" into the Verizon Plan and I am not paying a higher line access fee. 4 lines out of contract, $15 line access fee on each line.

ALL providers are moving away from 2 yr contracts. When you got that "discounted" phone in the past, you paid extra on your service for the next 2 yrs which ended up with a LARGER total cost(service + phone) over that time. You would get a phone with a $450 discount and end up paying $600 MORE for your service. GREAT DEAL! I prefer the way it is now. It cost me LESS.

I can get the same deals as new customers. Possibly you are not looking in the right place.

You should always go with the provider which best suits your needs. I am happy with my 5 lines on Verizon at $167/month.:smileyhappy:

We were on the list to get it but like all VZW Exclusive Phones we get the shaft! We will NEVER see Marshmallow in an OTA. You have a better chance Unlocking the Bootloader and Rooting the Phone and Putting on a Custom Marshmallow Rom than Verizon Releasing a OTA. Now that Nougat is Out forget about it. Personally I changing phones and going to a Non-Exclusive and also I will be Leaving Verizons lies and high prices with it.

Last week, at Verizon's suggestion (after being told that VZW has no control over OS updates), I contacted Motorola about Android 6 on the (2014) Droid Turbo. I was told that the Droid Turbo is "eligible" for Android 6 but no release date was mentioned.
Normally, I don't really care much about OS updates but Marshmallow actually has a feature that I want (permissions manager) and I don't want to have to wait until March when my contract is up to buy a new phone with Marshmallow (or Nougat) on it!
I, like others, am disappointed that Android 7 is out while the Turbo remains at Android 5. It seems to me that those of us who opted to purchase this Verizon exclusive deserve SOME kind of communication from Verizon about IF this is going to happen or not after being told that it was. If this is no longer the case, then I think you owe it to us to say that.
For the record, my phone is working perfectly and I would appreciate a non-form response that actually provides some insight (including a release date) about what's going on! If you don't know, find out.
Thank you for your time.
I believe the last time this happened with a Motorola phone Verizon offered $100 credit if they bought another Moto phone. I can't remember the exact details. In my opinion Verizon does owe a REAL explanation of what is going on. After doing some more research it really seems to be on Verizon's dime.
Personally im done with Verizon. Come End of Year I plan on moving elsewhere. Empty promises and overpriced service. Ive had enough. 13yrs, i wont be here to celebrate 14.
On Motorola's website it stills says that the Droid Turbo will be upgraded to 6.0 Marshmallow, 'pending carrier support'. Which tells me, if Verizon is still on board with the update. I hope it does, though it's getting late in the cycle. If Verizon doesn't update the phone to 6.0, I'm switching to a new Nexus/Pixel phone and going with Project Fi, which is far more reasonable per month than any of the carrier's plans and if you don't use all the data allotted, you get a refund the following month. How novel!
This is usually how it works. The phone manufacturer will submit a software/OS update to the carrier, in this case Verizon. Verizon rigorously tests the update to make sure all of their redundant propriatary apps work with it than, if all goes well, it's sent out, OTA, to the end user. I read somewhere, that Motorola submitted 6.0 Marshmallow updates for the Droid Turbo and Turbo 2 around the same time, which would've been about 8 months ago, based on when the Turbo 2 was updated to Marshmallow. If that is the case, why is Verizon sitting on the 6.0 update for the OG Turbo. The same phone in Brazil and India are running on 6.0, so.....
You miss quoted the Motorola site. It says "This device will be upgraded to the Android 6 (Marshmallow) release of Android, pending partner support." There is more than one partner involved in the upgrade process. Hardware manufacturers, FCC, and carriers to name a few. It isn't just the carriers.
Motorola Support - Find Answers | Motorola Mobility, Inc.
Correct me if im wrong but the Droid Turbo is 95% a Nexus 6 (Bigger Screen, GSM & CDMA) hardware wise, plus all the Verizon Bloat. There really is no excuse. We are not Getting M because of VZW not because of the Hardware MFGs. Typically VZW is the Last to Release these OTA just happened this time they missed the Bus
Verizon?
Motorola is done with their part, this is on Verizon to respond properly! If the droid turbo has M in India why oh why not the US? Verizon IS the problem, so Verizon prove it's not on you!
Correct Hammerhead13. The processor, GPU and RAM are all identical. They both have 1440p screens, though the Turbo is 5.2 inches and the Nexus 6 is 5.96 inches. The Turbo uses a 21 MP camera without Optical Image Stabilization, and the Nexus 6 uses a 13 mp camera with O.I.S. The Turbo has the bigger battery of the two. They are close cousins, lol.
And again, 6.0.1 for this phone has been out for months around the globe. The non-response is very frustrating.
Again it's clear the droids are getting overlooked becaide of its carrier exclusivity.
Seriously moving to iPhones paid in full going forward
The link you shared, Verizon Wireless Customer Support, goes to search results for "apple software updates".
I contacted Verizon on Friday and ultimately spoke with Level 2 Motorola support. Unfortunately, the support agent was not able to find any information about Android 6 for the Turbo. He said he will let me know if any new information becomes available and is supposed to follow up with me mid-October regardless of whether any new info becomes available or not.
The guy I spoke with was very nice and tried several avenues available to him to find information (we were on the phone for over an hour).
And here we are several days later and still no statement from Verizon.
Verizon, this isn't going to go away. If the Turbo won't be getting Android M (after being told that it would be), then just say that. We customers deserve an answer.
And before you say something like, "We have no information on this."....well...SOMEBODY knows so FIND OUT! Seems to me it should be easy enough for Verizon and Motorola to communicate with each other to ascertain an answer to this and bring this to a conclusion!
I don't believe Verizon cares about current customers, they must think that they can get enough new customers to offset the loss. Poor way to do business.
Verizon Wireless can't comment on if or when the update comes. It is legally safer if they say nothing because if they provide and expected date it would leave them open to legal action against them. Besides, Motorola is the one making to call on whether or not to update the software including cancelling it altogether which they have done before on a few of their phones models in the last few years.
Your point is taken however when Motorola announced many months ago that the Droid Turbo would be getting Android 6, that ship sailed. Currently, I am more interested in knowing IF the update is still going to happen rather than when. Given the lengthy timeframe of all of this, it seems to me that someone at Verizon should be contacting some at Motorola to find what is going on by now.
Even though you may very well be right in that Motorola controls software updates, we customers went to a VERIZON store to purchase our Turbo's...not Motorola.
Any of the people we talk to will not be able to help even if they are sympathetic. I'm probably going to do the only thing that they might listen to and that is to leave Verizon.
Motorola has canceled updates before after they had said the same phone were scheduled for an update. For example, the Droid Ultra, Mini and Maxx models were expected to get the update from KitKat to Lollipop, but after months of silence it was canceled by Motorola. http://m.pocketnow.com/2016/02/19/motorola-droid-ultra-mini-maxx-android-kitkat
I just saw the latest 'Android 6 Updates Roundup' from Android Authority dated two days ago and the Turbo is still listed as getting the update.
http://www.androidauthority.com/android-6-0-marshmallow-update-649110/#motorola
This will do for now.
Difference this time being, the update us already done. Now it's Verizon's turn
Motorola hasn't had the soak test yet. It isn't nowhere done if they haven't completed the soak test.
We hear you loud and clear, dudebro. We do not want you to leave. At the same time we do not have software update information available until it is actually released.
http://vz.to/1BnSt25
Is there an issue with the current software on your Turbo?

Ok, Verizon let's try some logic. If you don't have the software update and Motorola hasn't given It to you. I would suggest that you apply some pressure to Lenovo/Motorola to do the update or you could always unlock the bootloader making your customers happy and inturn giving Lenovo/Motorola a black eye for being unnecessarily slow. Just my two cents. Go ahead and push the domino.
Hi TamaraH,
Thank you for chiming in. Why doesn't someone at Verizon contact Motorola and find out what's going on?! Again, it's about communication. As I've already posted, it's almost not about getting the update anymore, it's about Verizon communicating with their CUSTOMERS about what's going on. If the Android 6 update was just released by Google last week, we wouldn't be having this discussion but it was released by Google in October, 2015 and announced for the Droid Turbo shortly thereafter. Now, it's almost a year later and while I realize that it takes time to QA software and make sure the customer has a good experience (and of course that there are lots of phones that must be tested), staying silent while users day after day are asking for a status update is just not acceptable after such an extended period of time.
We were originally promised this update. If that's no longer going to happen, fine...if it is, great! It's time that we know what's going on. This isn't that difficult!
Again, SOMEBODY know's what's going on so FIND OUT!
Jon
I distinctly remember seeing on VZW site for the Turbo Advertising it was getting 6.0. That is the biggest issue. That was pulled and the changed the info after Turbo 2 was released.
Yes Verizon did at one time on their website said that it would get 6.0 and they did take it down. I don't buy phones with the expectation of them being updated, that being said this when bought was a flagship phone from Verizon. I do buy phones with the expectation that they will be kept to date. For at least 2 years. Now with Motorola basic dissolving into Lenovo, I have no expectation that anymore updates will be coming. Verizon has let me down as well as Lenovo doing what they did. Will I stay with Verizon probably not. Will I buy a Lenovo device, No probably not ever. Will I buy an I Phone, no. I stay with Android it's a better operating system. Looking at different phones now. I will keep the Turbo it's a great phone.
This kind of questioning is off base....to say the least. People aren't necessarily looking for updates because something is wrong...they may be looking for an update because they want the additional benefits that come with that promised update. In this case, better memory management, much better battery management with Doze etc. (Verizon has touted previously that the OG Droid would be updated to 6.0 Marshmallow, though they don't seem to be now and Moto is still saying it will be updated, pending partner support). That statement from VZW Customer support is kind of like taking your car to the dealer and asking about a tune up, and the service advisor says, why are you asking about a tune up, whats wrong with your car.... I think most of us want the update because at the time a lot of us purchased the device, the 6.0 Marshmallow update was touted by Verizon and Moto...that's certainly one reason I bought the phone, and why I probably won't buy another Moto product from Verizon if they don't update it.
Motorola submitted a 6.0 update in late January 2016 for the original Droid and Droid 2. That came straight from a Motorola rep that I spoke to myself, at that time Ann154.
You are getting your phone models mixed up. The original Droid was released in 2009. The Droid 2 is a 2010-11 phone model. Neither of them have gotten updates for several years now.
The Motorola rep was too low level to know exactly the status of the updates for devices that haven't been released. The Droid Turbo hasn't yet had a soak test. It isn't nowhere done if they haven't completed the soak test.
I would pay money to see the 2009 OG Droid running Marshmallow Android 6.0. Sadly I don't think it will happen.
After a number of years with delays in updates, months after the developer releases it, I will leave Verizon. I plan to buy an unlocked phone direct from a manufacturer. I no longer find the control and lack of updated acceptable. I expect T-Mobile will be my first carrier to try.
The continued promises, promises, promises are over, plus all the bloatware. I have had 3 smartphones and the issues continue with Verizon.
Ellis113 we don't want to lose you! We would love a chance to turn this around. I have sent you a private message to continue.

I feel we are in the same boat, no help from Verizon or Motorola. Our contract is up in the near future and we will probably move to someone else. I have never been this disgusted with Verizon about the way they have treated original Droid Turbo owners. I remember the promise of marshmallow and some of those features would really be handy. There are the 3 of us and my brother in laws family also. That would be the loss of seven phones and tablets. I don't believe Verizon really cares same with Motorola.
I remember when Verizon touted (they've since stopped touting Marshmallow on the Turbo) and Moto still is touting the update on their website. The bottom line is VZW and or Motorola should let us know whether or not were going to get the update. They can say something vague like 'were still evaluating the possible update and will let you know when we have an answer' Someone else asked about the update and a bot from VZW support replied with 'whats up with your phone, why are you looking for a software update'? Well, maybe there isn't anything wrong with the phone, maybe we would like to enjoy the additional battery savings with DOZE, or one of the other advantages to the Marshmallow software update...why should we have to be justified to ask about the status of a software update initially promised to us and now silence....? I would be happy if the O.G. Turbo was updated. If VZW decides not to update it, then I will leave their network and go with the network that has the best coverage in my area and get a Google Pixel or a Blackberry Priv. The Priv has been updated to Marshmallow on T-Mobile and AT&T though VZW hasn't updated the Blackberry Priv and is silent and or cagey when asked about it. If VZW would be transparent (something they know little about) about the Turbo or Priv getting the update, I would probably just buy a Priv and stay on VZW, I like hardware keyboards and VZW coverage, but if I have to wait a lot longer, I'll take my business elsewhere. I've been a customer since 2001. Does that mean anything? I don't believe so.....and my contract is up, I have an upgrade available.
At this point, I've given up on this. If the decision is ultimately made to release Android M for the Turbo, that's great! :smileyhappy: If they decide (or have decided) to abandon it, so be it.
My contract expires in March and I will probably not renew it...and I will never purchase a carrier-exclusive phone ever again.

I don't see anymore updates for this phone either. It seems to update apps on a weekly basis, but no Marshmallow yet. I don't know about leaving Verizon, but I am definitely never doing another flagship phone anymore. I have used Motorola for years, but I think this is the last one for me. Thinking about a Galaxy 7 Edge, but I still have not made up my mine yet. I just wish the would take down the section on updates that says the Turbo is getting Marshmallow, it is not going to happen.
We're pretty much stuck with Verizon so this won't cause a loss to their bottom line. To be honest, our plan and its price is actually pretty good so there's really no complaints there. They just have to hamstring the best phone of 2014 and I simply don't know why. The same phone is already updated globally. It just seems like the only way to prevent Verizon from sticking their hands in and artificially aging a phone that's otherwise fantastically fast and in perfect working order is to get an iPhone.
While I agree all service plans are similar, I am just done having a phone with issues do to bad or no update, in addition to all the bloatware. I will buy my next phone outright so I can use any vendor and no bloat. Leaving Verizon will be more for their poor management and follow through. Broken promised over and over again.
Reading through all this [Removed]...AS VERIZON SHOULD BE(????) My conclusion is that Verizon does not give a [Removed]. We have been told to expect the update to Marshmallow, been EXPECTING it, Some have been RELYING on it but NOTHING. Well over a year. ...... Every turn is an apparent LIE. [Removed]! About [Removed] time..... Verizon has been dragging their feet since late 2014 on this. I will have to think really hard next time I'm in the market for a new phone. That link just takes me to a generic landing page for 'contact us', not sure where I'd go after that.
No the phone does not work, it needs to be flashed in order for that to happen. My understanding is that it can only be recovered by you giving me a correct set of firmware files (i.e. not the ones that are being sent OTA, because that was the cause of the problem) which I can then upload to the phone over USB via the Software Upgrade Assistant.
Official support documents posted on 12/06/2016. Droid Turbo Software Update | Verizon Wireless
That is good info, but that is the exact OTA that broke my phone. I believe this OTA does not work on encrypted handsets. In any case I cannot OTA the phone any more because it is soft-bricked. I can only get to fastboot, and try software upgrade assistant... doing that it downloads an image but fails after loading 10% to the handset.
I may see a problem. You page lists the latest version as
Using the software upgrade assistant it is trying to install version 23.21.49.EN.US. If the bootloader is expecting 24.81 then that may explain why the upload fails.
Hi,
I have an encrypted Droid Turbo too. It has been bricked since the update was pushed on Saturday 12/3. I'm not sure who to contact to get this problem fixed and I haven't seen any announcements. Where can we download the file to try to fix the problem ourselves?
"Bricked" means that a phone won't even load the OS; the splash window that appears usually with a logo, doesn't appear and the phone is completely unusable.
@wavesandsun If you have the same problem as I do then your phone is booting to 'fastboot' mode. You see a picture of the Android on his back with a flap open on his belly. There is a green arrow saying "Start" at the top of the screen. You can use the volume buttons and power button to cycle through and select various options (none of which do anything meaningful). In the lower left of the screen you should see "Device is LOCKED. Status code 0" and "Software status: Official". If you see all this you have exactly my problem. I believe the only fix is for VZ to provide a corrected image (which is not currently available for download) which you install via a recovery program and a USB cable. Or if VZ cannot fix it that way they could exchange the handset at no cost (since they broke it), which would be the classy thing to do.
Software updates are supposed to make your phone run better not worse, wavesandsun. Let’s ensure we find a solution once and for all. Can you please clarify that you are not able to get past the start up screen on the phone? I want to fully understand the symptoms you’re experiencing.
If this happened right after a software update I recommend using the software repair tool. This will help fix any software related issues. Click here: http://vz.to/2gAgV9k . Please let us know if the issue duplicates after this.
