What is up with the massive Texting issue being experienced by a number of droid Maxx Users?
There are currently no solutions, and the only twinkle of hope was one comment from VZW about hoping to push an update at the end of June 2014. This is the main function most people use their phones for. There has to be a quicker way to resolve this.
I am experiencing this problem and it is greatly hindering my ability to communicate with the people in my life. This is unacceptable. Why do I pay for cell service if it is going to be BUGGY for half a month or more? Outlandish...

I have been experiencing the same issues since June 17th. I don't recall upgrading to KitKat or any new apps being installed (just updated a bunch). I am no longer receiving all of my texts. In addition I noticed my voicemail kept ending the call every time I entered my pass code. People think I'm ignoring them now and my mother is getting mad because her instructions for me to cook dinner tonight are being "ignored."
I've closed and force stopped the app. Cleared the cache on both the app and the cache partition on the phone. I have force stopped all apps and restarted the phone. As soon as I boot up I get the "messaging has stopped" pop up. Doesn't sound like taking it to Verizon for a replacement or new SIM card seems to be working. Help Verizon!!

gswan24 look no further, help has arrived! We'll do everything we can to get this resolved ASAP! Are you using the stock app or a 3rd party? Do you have basic or visual voicemail?

Hi Ashley
I am using the standard messaging app and basic voicemail. I do not have any 3rd party messaging apps that I use. The "messaging has stopped" message pops up immediately after reboot and multiple times during use of other apps (Facebook, chrome, gallery, email, etc.). It will also force close multiple times when trying to compose messages as well. And even if it says a message sent, my contacts say they aren't receiving the messages.
I am on Android version 4.4 and phone build version 19.6.3-obake_maxx.

I have the Droid Mini. I am using the standard as well. tends to only happen when i turn on my data."unfortunately the process com.android.mms has stopped" and i have to turn on my data to send a picture which is also stupid. never had to do that with any other verizon phone and i have been with them for over 13 years. i am quite frusterated. ive only had the phone since may 2014 and ive already had to do a reset which did not help. FRUSTERATED

Thanks for the additional information gswan24! Let's get your messages flowing! Please download, install and use the Verizon Messages Application from the Play store. This resolve similar issues for my son (he has same phone model). Keep us posted.

That's why they are giving them away for free now I guess.... waste of an upgrade for me, extremely disappointed.

We hear you loud and clear! We do understand that many people use texting as their main source of communication.
The Messaging application in some rare situations may force close with error message "Unfortunately, Messaging has stopped" or "Unfortunately, the process com.android.mms has stopped".
Until the update (that has a tentative release date for the end of June 2014), you may delete all messages from the messaging application, or may perform a factory data reset.

I don't feel it is rare for those who have the issue. The message is actually quite often for those who get it.

Is there a new date for the update yet. My phone appears to not have received an update- despite the initial hope that it would push at the end of June. While there is a work around available, I would prefer to stop using a third party app and get back to the stock vzw texting app...Verizon Wireless Customer Support

I am having the same issue and quite upset that I'm paying for a service that is not allowing me to receive messages.

Its a problem that no one seems to have a real solution for. I tried the clear cache and factory reset and took my phone to Verizon. They sent me a new one and it does the same thing. If I force close and clear cache it starts saying " unfortunitely messaging has stopped " within a few seconds after trying to text. I haven't added any new apps to the phone and I updated the existing apps on the new phone. I'm NOT using a 3rd party texting app. I called Verizon again 2 days ago and all they could tell me was a new update may be released at end of June. I'm about to pay my early termination and go back to AT&T . At least their customer service was honest and gave discounts on your bill or accessories for they're failure to provide a reliable service. Doesn't matter if its Motorola of Verizon. Someone needs to make this HUGE burden up to us to get our trust back.

As previously mentioned, this is a Google/Motorola issue. Why is Verizon being held responsible? Do you hold your cable provider responsible for your TV not powering on? Text messaging is free. It's a free service, but you want something in exchange because of a temporary failure. Ridiculous.
They have been honest throughout the entire issue. They have told you they are aware of an issue, and given an ETA for a fix.
