Moto Z Force droids, Battery life is no longer since last update.

I have two Moto z force droids and ever since the last update both phones batteries only last about 7 hours if we just let them sit there and do nothing with them. if we use them we literally have to plug them into the chargers. I'm [removed] I paid a lot of money for these and they are about 12 months old and now they are pretty much just paperweights. One started about about a month ago just rebooting itself over and over again couldn't use it. this 7.1.1 update obviously is designed to make us have to buy new phones and honestly ive been with verizon for about 15 years and if I have to buy new phones this soon I'm changing carriers. this is ridiculus. I wan't to know when this is getting fixed and don't tell me to check my apps, I have disabled all the apps and the only thing draining the battery is the Screen, android system, phone Idle and android os 1% each and I'm down to 62% battery in 1.5 hours. just sitting here next to me idle.

Has any more be determined with this issue? Since the latest update on my Droid Force in mid-March (NCLS26.118-23-13-6-5) my battery has randomly drained quickly and the phone just shuts down. It will literally shut down when it has 80+% battery life. It will shut down randomly, when you plug it in or when I try to take a photo, open an app.....in all kinds of cases. The phone now almost always needs to be plugged into power as you never know when it will just shut down. When it shuts down it will not reboot unless it is plugged into power. Rather frustrating for a phone that is only a little over a year old. And, this is not an isolated incident with my phone - there is rampant posting across the Internet about Motorola battery drain and random shut down issues across multiple models.

My phone did same and was replaced under warranty. New phone had been working great until 8.0.0 update 4-4-2018 now battery is not lasting like before. It would barely lose power over night sitting on night stand now it loses between 20 and 40% battery. I am not sure what the update did but it wasn't good for sure. I liked the long life of battery and am now disappointed. I hope someone will come up with a fix that works. I tried the safe mode but nothing works.

I'm sorry to hear that it doesn't get better with another update. This was a great phone with extended battery life until this whole debacle. Now, its almost a paperweight. It is practically no longer a "mobile" phone as I can't trust it not to be plugged into power as it will randomly shut down even with charge of well over 50%. I've had it shut down with 80%+ charge. Or it will just suddenly drain. It then has to be plugged into power to be rebooted. So much for what was Moto's "latest and greatest" being pushed by Verizon just a year ago. :-(

Have you tried placing your phone into Safe Mode to see if that occurs in Safe Mode? http://spr.ly/6586DbjFk; Are all your apps up to date as well? Any new apps that were not installed on the prior update?

I am having the same problem. My phone battery used to last 48 hours, but for the past five days since the upgrade to 8.0 it has only lasted 20-22 hours.

I have restarted several times, including in safe mode, and the problem persists. During Safe Mode, the battery still drained quickly. My battery usage details has consistently said "System" (Android OS) and "Phone Idle" as the top culprits for battery usage.

The only alerts in the battery section were screen timeout and location services. I adjusted the screen timeout to be a little shorter, but my screen usages was never the problem. 33% of the battery drained while I was asleep and my phone was sitting idle.

I limited a few apps that had location services; and only left those where it's important.

All other portions showed now issue, including "Apps draining battery" and "Apps delaying sleep mode".

You are lucky!!! 7 hours, I wish! My phone/battery dies the second I touch it. I was at 100% and took 1 picture on my vacation and the phone immediately died. I charged the phone again and answered a couple of texts, phone died again. I was on vacation and when the phone died, I couldn't get back to my hotel. No Uber, no directions to walk. It was terrible. I'm aggravated. I re calibrated the battery a bunch of times, still isn't working

And I also had to go buy an extra device to charge the phone on the go for 100 bucks. So I could turn my phone on for a couple of minutes

I am confident that we can get the battery issue your phone is having resolved. What software version does your device have? Settings > About phone > Android Version. Are all of your applications up to date?

8.0 is when it started. My phone has no damage. Everything is up to date. And this happened because it the update.

I totally agree. Not only does my battery life now suck (literally), notifications are repeating themselves, even after they've been dismissed. Phone is constantly chirping, all applications notification settings were turned on. I've turned off the majority of them, leaving the normal ones, and battery still disappears. what the heck happened? my icons are now smaller and "left justified" on each screen as well. my talk to me while driving feature won't work. I pay a LOT of money for this wireless "service" and am quite frustrated with the level of incompetency I experience whenever there is an issue (which seems to be whenever there is an update). To save Verizon the routine: no, there is no damage to my phone. no, no liquid has come in contact with it. Yes, I have tried a different charger.

It's imperative that your phone gives you the performance and operation that you expect, DOUBLETTRAINING. I know you have a number of issues and I'd like to address each. Regarding the battery life, are all apps and the operating system up to date? You can check for updates to apps by going to the Play Store, menu icon in top left, my apps and games and tap "update all" if available. For the operating system, go to settings, system updates and "check for system updates". If an update is available then please download and apply it. Which apps are having the issues with notifications? Regarding your icons appearing smaller, go to settings, display and "display size" to configure. Lastly, which driving feature are you referring to exactly?

Add my name to the list of proud owners of a $650 landline. I have EXACTLY the same problem as everyone else. Phone on charger says 100%... unplug it and it dies within seconds... restarts at 1% and shuts down... plug into charger and it starts at about 80%

If you ask me, it seems like a reporting problem. The OS seems to have a problem knowing how much power the battery has left. It's all over the place. You can't tell me programers don't know what's causing this.

I just wish customer service would be honest and tell us where the problem lies and who to complain to. Is it Verizon, Motorola or Android (Google). But they won't... they'll just pretend to try to "solve" the problem by asking a bunch of stupid question. The truth is, boys and girls... they know all about this issue.

Note to Verizon customer service: DO NOT REPLY TO THIS NOTE ASKING ME IF I HAVE TRIED PUTTING MY PHONE IN SAFE MODE OR I WILL LOSE IT. Read this (ad dozens of other) threads before you comment. The problem is an OS problem and can only be fixed with an OS update.

For sure I will never buy another Motorola... but based on the lack of Verizon's interest in this problem I will likely be looking at other carriers. Unfortunately, I still owe about $200 on this useless phone.

My Droid is doing the same as all these others. I got rid of my landline so now it's like I have NO PHONE. Yes, all my apps are up to date. Yes, I checked all the other things you mentioned. It shuts down even with 80% charge, just randomly. It won't turn back on. When It does, it's charged to 99%! It's worthless to me as it is. I hadn't made the connection to the last update until I read everyone else's responses. I'm within five months of having this brick paid for, so what do I do until then? And you might not thing it's anything, but I was up to level 656 on a match-3 game, and when I finally got the phone to come back on, my game account had been replaced with some Korean person's and my game was GONE. I might pay this brick off and get a TracFone. They seem to be cheaper and more reliable. Tell me, what am I supposed to do? Seriously. Don't tell me to check everything, as apparently from reading everyone's responses, that's not the issue. I'm very unhappy because now I have NO PHONE.

We can look at replacement options if the device has no physical or liquid damage and is within 1 year manufacturer warranty, however we'll need to do troubleshooting to be able to do this. If the device has damage or it's outside of the 1 year manufacturer warranty, it can be replaced if you have Total Mobile Protection. Please let us know if any of these two apply and if you'll like to continue troubleshooting.
