Notification Light

I find myself constantly checking my RAZR Maxx due to the blinking notification light only to find no neq notifications. I am inclined to think it's the GPS. Does anyone else have this issue or know of a solution?

One simple way to find out if your GPS is causing a blinking notification light is, if you have it on, turn it off. In fact, if you constantly have your GPS on, you are draining the battery. If you don't need it, turn it off. Notification lights will blink for several reasons: new Emain, weather alert, calendar appointments, messages, security alerts, and several others. There also may be an apps that you downloaded which may cause the light to blink.

There also may be an apps that you downloaded which may cause the light to blink. ) Hey that is a Good Suggestion Mortb When i use my Scanner app it has a Feature setting that can make the Led light Flash. And some Weather Warning Apps would probably have a Feature like that to Warn Ones of Approaching Storms. I know my Local Weather Station app has a Feature like that..b33 Smiley Happy

Thanks for suggestions. I know it isn't an app and I'm also aware that I can turn the gps off. What I'm looking for is to find out if anyone else is also having this issue and if they are have they resolved it. I really am not interested in turning my gps feature off because I use it.

I understand it the berries when you have a phantom light like that and you don't know what causes it. Know when i hook my Maxx to the Charger and it's off there is a light white that shows for a brief minute them goes away. Koosh what is the Led Color that is showing on your Maxx..

yes - I also have this issue.. with the green flashing light. I will check my notifications - then turn hphone off (not "shut down"), then it's blinkig again! Turn it back on - only to find no new notifications.

I have quite a few other issues - and am searching for answers. Hope to find some! Smiley Happy

I haven't had any issues other than the notification light. I love this phone but would like that resolved. I guess I will have to call tech support (but they always tell you to do a FDR :-()

My husband has issues with notification sounds, goes off but without an actual notification.

Hi Kooshie!

Thanks to the community for your input! Kooshie, let's do some troubleshooting on your MAXX. To start with, please put the device in safe mode by following these steps: http://tinyurl.com/bw687ds

This will disable your aplications. If the notifications stop, then you know an application is causing the LED light to go on. We would then need to check the settings in your applications to find out which one is the culprit.

Please try this and post back with your results. Thank you,

So frustrated, I mean really didn't want to go to the Verizon store for a tech problem but I am stumped 😞 so I sucked it up & I took my husband's Maxx in to the local store in Newburgh. Well lets just say that SETH is not on my Christmas card list!

He started by telling me it was because his phone was set to both vibrate & ring, then he tried to turn off ALL notifications, then he wanted to change the notification tone, & suggested that I "take a class"! Seriously? I went in for a phantom notification sound & this guy who had no idea what he was doing, tells me that he does this all day long & suggests that I take a class!

By the way, his phone still gives him the phantom notification tones! So it was a wasted aggravation.

I was getting frustrated with my blue light verification on my MAXX HD and found your post with a google search.  After looking at it I tapped the top of my screen and pulled down the notifications (by dragging my finger down on the top of the screen) and clicked the giant X on the right which cleared my notifications and when I locked my screen the blue light finally went away.  Hope this helps.

Thanks for the try, however what I'm discussing is the fact that there are no notification and the light blinks therefore there is no "X" to tap.

I've got the same problem.  Just got back from the Verizon store.  Only option is a FDR or to send out a new one.  Because of the horrible design on the Droid RAZR, the little plastic piece above the camera on the back broke off from continuously pulling the phone in and out of my pocket.

The guy at the store said he doesn't know if it would constitute as a "damaged device"! Really?! When the RAZR came out, they advertised on how it is one of the most durable phones on the market.  If it is in fact a "damaged phone" because of their bad designing, why should I have to pay the $300 to get a new one!? Doesn't make sense to me.

Anyway Kooshie, I also have tried pretty much everything except a complete factory reset.  The light isn't causing any issues.  It's just really annoying! If you figure it out, please let us know and I will do the same.

The only thing I just tried is disabling my other e-mail application connected to my hotmail account.  I have it bookmarked in my browser anyway.  So far... it seems to be working.

SSThomas, the FDR did not fix my issue.  I tried it when the phone was new.  My husband on the other had was getting a audible phantom notification and an FDR did fix his issue, he doesn't get the phantom light notification and never has.

I have been having the same type of issue on my Droid 4. It looks like it is the Yahoo! Mail app for me that is causing it. I noticed it started when I stopped getting normal notifications of emails being received on that address. When I manually check it things seem to work for a while and then the problem will come back in a day or two. I have not tried any uninstall/reinstall of the app yet to see if that works as a permanent fix.

I got both... Phantom light and notification sound.  My phone is on vibrate 99.99999% of the time.  Checked it today if I would get the set tone for a notification, wouldn't you know! That happened too!  Removing and disabling the e-mail application looks like it did the trick!  Since then, I haven't had the phantom alerts!  If you have that set up, I would give that a try.

I was having the same problem. I uninstalled two apps that I recently downloaded, ringtone makers, and so far the problem has been corrected. The light is no longer flashing.
