Pardon my Droid Noobness...

PastorofMuppets

So, I've recently jumped onto the Android train with my purchase of a Droid RAZR.  I must say, that coming from a Blackberry, I'm very impressed.  Anyway, the tech at the verizon dealer synced ALL of my contacts from my previous phone to a Google account (which he set up for me upon activating the phone).  I would like to be able to "transfer" these contacts to the Backup Assitant, however I am not sure how to do so.  I have it set up that all of the new contacts that I create are stored under the Backup Assistant tag.  Is there are way to mass transfer/copy contacts from the Google account to Backup Assistant?  Thanks!

PastorofMuppets,

Hello! Congratulations on your new Razr!! You can move contacts from Google to Backup Assistant, although I don't recommend it because it will cause your contacts do appear duplicated in your mobile phone. Of course, it sounds like you intend on only using Backup Assistant so this shouldn't be an issue for you.

What you can do is login at www.google.com/contacts to export your contacts (typically under 'More>Export', select file type). Once saved, you can then login to www.vzw.com/myverizon and go to 'My Verizon> My Device> Back Up My Contacts'. From the Backup Assistant page, you can click 'Import Contacts' on the right side of the page to bring the saved CSV file into Backup Assistant.

Since this is an awesome device and your first Android powered smart phone, you might want to take a look at our free wireless workshops. It's a great tool we offer in-store and online to help you get the most out of your phone!

I hope that helps!

Thanks,

Adam,

Thank you for the response.  Somewhat regretfully, I ended up "duplicating" my contacts and have since started to clean up the list individually. I did not even think to delete the contacts through the Google contact module.  Thanks, again!
