Phone Good for Games with 12 Year Old

I need a phone for my 12 year old grandson that will be game-friendly.

However, I want one that is affordable as he will have it while in school and at karate after school and that makes it at greater risk for damage or missing in action.

What Verizon available phone would work well for games and a 12 year old without breaking the bank?

You can view them here: https://www.verizonwireless.com/smartphones/ You will want to sort them from lowest to high. Most of these devices are capable of downloading apps and playing games on them.
