Phone automatically reboots for no reason

My phone seems to be rebooting every couple of hours for no apparent reason. I have been checking other forums, and others have been having this problem, but no one can positively identify the reason. I just conducted a factory reset, and I have not reloaded any apps. It immediately rebootted again after listening to music (while plugged in) for about 15 minutes.
The only things I have running in the background are Backup Assistant and the Google locator facility.
Has anyone else experienced this issue, and does anyone have a solution for this random reboot problem?

I have an update. I thought it might have had something to do with the phone changing between 3G and 4G. So, I turned off the radios, and left it on WiFi only. It still rebooted twiced overnight, and continues to do so today.
I am becoming frustrated. I think I'm going to have to go back to the store and get it replaced.

@RGinNJ,
I'm sorry to hear you're Droid Razr is rebooting. I know how frustrating and inconvenient this can be.
I've thoroughly researched this and did not find it to be a known reported issue with this device. How long have you had this issue? Does the phone reboot randomly or have you notice it happen after doing certain things on the phone?
Try placing the phone in safe mode so we can determine if there is a third party apps on the device that is causing the phone to reboot.
Please post back if you continue to experience this and I'll be more than happy to further assist you.

After the factory reset that I went through, I didn't have any 3rd party apps other than the garbage that Verizon/ Motorola load on my behalf that I don't want. Anyway, I went to the store, and they replaced the phone with no questions asked. I've had the phone on for 10 hrs today with no reboots. I will load some apps later this evening to see if the problem starts again. If so, I'll be back looking for some more answers...

You are joking about this not being reported right? If you check any android site, including Motorola, you will find 1000's of people taking about the reboot issue and the fact that they are talking with verizon and Motorola.
So what is causing the multiple reboot issues and when will a fix be made? And while you are at it you can talk about the loss of signal problem.

Thanks for following up on this issue. I've taken a look at reports, and we do see some about the device power cycling. This is being investigated by Motorola, and a maintenance release (MR1) is in development. This is not all devices by any means, but we've received enough reports to contact Motorola about it. All normal troubleshooting procedures should be taken (including a factory reset) to rule out 3rd party applications as they are the main contributor to random freezing, crashing, and power cycling.
While a software update is in the making, we don't have an ETA for release yet, but please know we are aware of this and have been escalating feedback to Motorola regarding power cycle reports. If you would like troubleshooting options, please call the Warranty Center/Tech Support at 866-406-5154 or PM me with your phone number, and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
Thanks for your patience.

Mine too has rebooted twice this week. Both times, after the reboot, the phones ringer plays for no apparent reason under the specific ringtone that I have selected.
It also plays this music at the setting that the media volume is set to, not the ringer volume. The first time I did this, I was able to turn the phone on vibrate and it stopped playing. The second time (about 15 minutes ago), it just kept playing...in my office, and was VERY loud. I held my finger over the speaker to keep it at a minimum so as not to distract my coworkers.

I do love a good reboot .. especially in the middle of a call. It has become a DROID classic feature to me.
It seems no matter what the phone, or what the carrier the Droid phones restart. I even talked to a motorola
engineer and asked him before the X2 came out - if they fixed it. He said "nope" and i asked well what do you
do about it?" I just live with it". Ohhh okay - well lets hope the customers live with it too.

Happens all the time, even in the middle of the night on the docking station, lots going on then right? Pretty much the norm for the phone which doesn't seem unique to the Razr. I figure it's no use calling for a replacement since everyone else has and still has the problem. As a sw engineer it doesn't seam like it would be rocket science, is there a Doc Watson app for the phone, send crash report? I guess they wouldn't want to do that because they would be inundated with crash reports.

Put the Phone in Safe Mode an see How it Operates! Sounds like you have a Rouge App that is Causing the Issue, Have you also tried a Soft Reset! Press Power Button & Volume Down at the Same time till the Phone Goes Out Let off the Buttons then let it Re-power by itself..b33
What is safe mode and how do I use it with the DROID RAZR?
Safe mode is a method that allows the device to run without non-essential applications. This is beneficial for troubleshooting 3rd party applications.
- Power the device off.
Press and hold the Power button then select Power off.
- Power the device on.
Press and momentarily hold the Power button.
- When the Motorola Dual Core screen appears, simultaneously press and hold Volume Up / Down keys.
- Continue to hold the Volume Up / Down keys until Safe mode appears in the lower left.
Disable Safe mode
- Power the device off.
Press and hold the Power button then select Power off.
- Power the device on.
Press the Power button.
