Product Warranty does NOT cover normal wear and tear?

I am new to this forum so please excuse any errors on my part. I will be upgrading my LG Ally to the Motorola Droid Razr in late April (when I can get a discount for having my present phone for 20 months) and have been reading the Warranty as posted here on this site. Section IV, Part I, states that Verizon does NOT cover normal wear and tear? Am I reading this wrong? Section IX, Part B states that even if I buy an accessory from Verizon made for the Razr and it causes my phone to fail they do not consider it part of the Warranty? That doesn't sound right either. Also, it is interesting that the warranty is non-transferable.....Why? Any help here would be most helpful.... Smiley Happy.... Here is a link to Verizons warranty: http://www.verizonwireless.com/pdfs/terms_conditions/Extended_Limited_Warranty_or_Service_Contract_0...

It doesn't seem uncommon to me for a warranty to not cover normal wear and tear.  I think of them as mainly a protection against factory defects or workmanship issues.   It also doesn't seem unusual that it's not transferable, but I don't pretend to be an expert on these things.

If you want a more extensive coverage I would look into Square Trade. They come in a variety of coverage options including accidents like drops, and are transferable. From what I've heard, people seem to be very happy with their service and response to claims.

warranty is basically only going to cover factory defects. if you are concerned about ever needing to replace the device, then insurance is your best bet. i've seen covers/protectors damage the phones and these are sold at verizon, but they still won't cover the damage under warranty since you put the cover on it. you're pretty much only going to get a replacement under warranty if the phone just stops working for no reason of yours.

Ncoclub, thank you for you inquiries about your device warranty. You pose some great questions. The warranty covers manufacturer's defects. If your phone has a defect (i.e doesn't power on, screen malfunctioning, etc.) and has general wear and tear but no actual damage, it will be covered. But we will not replace your phone simply because it has wear and tear. So if your phone has a small scratch on the screen or the color fades from use, we will not exchange it simply for that reason.

For the accessories, under Section 1X, Part B, this is referring to ancillary accessories, which is third party accessories not provided by Verizon Wireless. If you purchase an accessory from another source and it damages your phone, this would not be covered under warranty and we would suggest using insurance in this case.

Lastly, the warranty follows your account. If you sell your phone on eBay or purchase a phone from a friend, that phone would no longer be covered under warranty. If you have multiple lines or add a new line and transfer your device to another line, it would still be covered under warranty.

I hope this helps!

Nco glad your getting a new phone i think you said a Razr the Razr are nice but in the long run i think you would like the Maxx a little more better simply because of the Battery it will go allot longer for Ya especially if your in a 4G area an it might drop in price an you LG might be worth something as a Trade in. Now as for Warranty i have one on Maxy an what i put her in is a Oakly Glasses Bag but i will get a Case Soon.  An the one from Otter box the Defender will Protct your Razr or Razr Maxx what ever you Choose with great protection as it has a Clamshell that it sets in. then you put the Clamshell into a Neopreen or something like that an it will cover the Cord plug ins an your Headphone Jack but you can open them to use them. But you have a little time to think about it so but not to much as April is closing on us Fast. B33

Have been researching both...Want to buy the car dock but have learned on this forum that you must remove the phone from its case or it wont fit...BUMMER!!! Also, the maxx is now $299 as opposed to $199 for the "basic" razr. I am not a power user. (Handicaped Veteran who doesn't work or go outside the house every day). I am getting a $50 discount by waiting till the end of April but was going to use it to buy the dock. If thre maxx would come down in price i would jump but for what I am going to use the phone for does not justify the extra $100 in my opinion. By using the "tricks" I have learned on this forum (Juice Defender, Smart Actions etc) I am sure I can make the Razr work for my needs. Thanks to all again for the help and tips!!
