Am I ever going to get ICS for my RAZR. The phone is great, but I did expect to be able to upgrade. Anyone have the latest info?

Hi jazchas,
I understand the desire to have the latest software update for your device! I am happy to assist.
Currently, no date as to when or even if the Motorola DROID RAZR will get Ice Cream Sandwich update. You can check for updates here:
Software Update: DROID RAZR by Motorola
I hope I have addressed your concerns.
Thanks,

According to Motorola at the CES 2012 show in Las Vegas, ICS will update in the 2nd quarter 2012. So that probably means by the 3rd quarter.

funny how verizion is pushing the sale of this phone with upgrade ability to Ice cream sandwich .
like verizon to back out of it after the sale.
motorola web site states the ics is being pushed out to devices. the razr is not scheduled as from their site, but it better be updated or I see a court case when I show the ad off verizon wireless web site and a print out of your answer.
give the customer what was promised and stop having verizon wireless back pedal out of their responsibility !

Motorola went on record that the Razr will get the update... They have now until the end of the world to update it. Though most people expect sometime Q2 at the latest...

Then why would have I been told by the sales rep who sold me my RAZR that it was supposed to be in March (which has passed after buying my phone in February) and still no update.. I checked the link you posted and it shows "coming soon". Coming Soon is a relative term as to what "soon" means to each person. I think it is extremely disillusioning for the salespersons to make statements like this to sell a phone.

the sales rep told you what you wanted to hear.
somewhat like an attorney or car salesman, how can you tell they're lying, their lips are moving.

Borg-Tech as BearOne21 stated they Verizon Can't give an Exact Date Nor Can the Reps On I.C.S it's the same with the 4G in our area to me i think we got passed over An as they Lit the Sticks in little town out West.. The Customers in our Town are So upset there Pulling there hair's out in funny man's Term.. We just have be patient.. There's a reason that Motorola hasn't Let it go yet I would beat to say there testing it on the Razr's, The Droid 4 an the Bionic in a Lab right Now or there are Motorola Employees that are Testing in the Field an there may be top Verizon employees testing it as Well for Feed back to Motorola and if there are any issues that these people are reporting. To continue testing or getting it ready for Re-lease out . But the Update there Soak-Testing right should be out Soon possibly Monday or Tuesday of next week..b33

fact is that for some unknown reason nobody knows when the RAZR will get ICS...and there is really no reason that it should NOT get it by the end of hte 1st QTR.......the RAZR is an incredible phone - ICS would make it hands down the absolutely best one out there....but we wait...and wait..and wait. I feel like sitting in Rick's and taking my chances in Casablanca...we wait...and wait...and wait...

You know...
There is a known reason and most people have already shown they don't care or understand it. Android does not have legacy support. Some hardware will not work without modifying or rewriting the kernel, and drivers. You have to wait for the manufacturer to update the drivers(which some problems people may have bugs from) then after Motorola gets those drivers can then start working on the kernel. From there it they can start working on the UI level. The ONLY time when it doesn't need those steps is when the hardware is exactly the same as the device it was developed on(Galaxy Nexus). They are "similar", but there are differences.
This is what happens when you have 100 different devices to chose from. Apple only supports 3 models and do everything in house at the same time. While Microsoft has hardware restrictions which on the outside looks different they are all the same on the inside. It gives the placebo effect that manufacturers are updating their devices in a "timely" manner.
One of the problems of having open vs closed.

Replied to this already. I noticed the forum makes it almost impossible to reply/post
I have tried now via a regular computer, an Ipad and a Sony Tablet and the forum has different problems.

What are the benefits of Ice Cream Sandwich that are expected for the Razr Maxx? And am I correct that they're already planning the next update (I've heard different names depending on the device: Jelly Bean, Key Lime Pie) before they're finished delivering Ice Cream Sandwich?

Well usually it comes with a newly Home Screen, Dialer, an many more great things but it can cause issues as well but if it's built well an when it's tested by Motorola an everything works out Ok they can then release it to Verizon an if Verizon approves it We will see it Soo after that but if Verizon rejects it. It will go back to Motorola for fixes an then it come back Verizon an again if it's approved we will then Get it.. But as of a couple of weeks ago it was showing in article it not slated for release until Q3rd or Q4 witch is Oct. thru Dec.
