RAZR MAXX Home Screens, and can you remove them.

I know I said in 1 of my others posts that we should send all our tech support questions to Verizon, and that is what I did. I just got the RAZR MAXX today, and I had been playing with my wifes' for the last couple of days, and couldn't find a way to remove some of the 5 default home screens. So while I was at the store, I figured I would ask a tech about doing that. The only problem is, the tech I talked to said " I am not sure if it can be or not, I have never tried.. Why would you want to anyway?"
So here is my question for the real experts... Can they be removed? It has 5, I only want 1. I will then go back to the store and enlighten the tech.

The only OEM user interface (UI) that allows you to adjust the number of homescreens is the TouchWiz UI from Samsung.
Otherwise you can look into one of the third party Launcher replacement applications in the Play Store.

Same question, why would you want to? I put links to the apps I use most often on one or the other 5 home pages orgainized in a way that make sense to me. Anyway, Ice Cream Sandwich is coming out next week so everything is changing.

What difference does it make why? Maybe he doesn't like extra blank pages, maybe he wants the same control he has had with his "older" Droid phone, maybe he wants to play around with his phone and be able to undo what he has done. Just because you like doesn't mean he has too.

It can't be done. Most people (including the developers) consider this one of the major advantages over the iPhone. Just leave the 2 on either end (or however many you don't want to use) blank. Oh....and you better avoid htc's because I have 7.....LOL (and love them all!). Full screen calendar widget, full screen weather widget, commonly used apps page, bookmarked website page, full page contacts (9 favorites) widget, media page (music player, eq widget, Pandora and spotify), and then my main home page with my most used apps and direct dial icons (wife, son, etc). Make those screens work for you!

And that is the phone I am coming from, a Samsung, so I am used to being able to add/remove home screen pages.. I would also respond to those that use the 5 of them. What if you wanted more? You are also not able to add more pages.

If I want more or less than I would install a third party Launchers. Some of them are really good based on the reviews I have read. I used to use Launcher Pro, but I haven't needed to for the last year.

For the record, I actively use four of my screens available on both the Nexus (5 screens) and the Thunderbolt (7 screens). The Tbolt has full screen widgets on the other three screens, but I rarely look at them. The fifth screen on the Nexus is completely blank.

i used ADW launcher on my old incredible for a while. i REALLY liked the launcher. however, when you use a launcher, you can't use the stock widgets that are tied to your UI (touchwiz, sense, blur, etc). i liked the htc widgets too much to stick with ADW launcher. i tried to use comparable widgets by dowloading "beautiful widgets," but they just weren't as nice as htc's so i went back to using the Sense launcher. i'm not familiar with motorola's widgets so a launcher may be worth trying. i just thought i'd share this because if you've never used a launcher, then there are some quirks with them that i didn't realize. when you install it and select it as your default launcher, your will need to set the home screens back up how you want them. one thing you'll notice is that if you got to "add widget" on a screen, the motorola widgets that are specific to your phones skin (or UI. it used to be called blur. i don't know what it's called now?) will not be available.

I liked the Fascinate, because I was able to remove / add home pages as I needed it, and with the GingerBread update, I was able to modify the picture that I wanted as my wallpaper, and have it stretch across a single page, or across multiple pages. I love using my own pictures for my wallpapers, and there are some that I do not want to stretch across multiple pages, as it does not use the full image.
It is just me wanting the best of everything...
I do however, LOVE the MAXX so far...

yep as some have said, getting a launcher from google play is the answer.
I prefer some of the 3rd party launchers over the stock.
For speed and light footprint Zeam and Nemus launchers are good, ADW launcher and Launcher Pro are good options too.

I like Launcher, but like even more the GO systems. Their launchers, contact launchers, and keyboard launchers. Their Locking launchers are so much better than the stock lock. I also believe you can delete all but one screen with GO, although I have never tried. I added two extra screens for a total of seven. On two of them I have one full calendar, and the other a full page weather/time widget. On the homescreen I have all my favorite contacts. On another screen I have all my reading matterial, Google books, Aldiko, and my beloved Sherlock Holmes. Etc, Etc.

I used to use Go messaging but stopped after it was discovered that they were mining address books without telling people.
I know lot's of apps do the same thing, which is the price you pay for using free apps I guess, but it still seems underhanded to pull down the entire contact list and not tell users that you are doing so.
