Razr battery dying quickly all of a sudden

My Razr battery is dying at a rapid pace all of a sudden. I'm looking for answers on what I should do to either preserve the battery or what I should ask an in-store rep.

On Thursday, my phone battery began to plummet. The most extreme case since then is Friday. I had fully charged it at work, kept charging it in the car on the way to my next destination, and within 3 hours it was completely dead after no use.

I am using ICS, but haven't upgraded anything recently.

The battery is warm to the touch.

I'm not using many apps, not making many phone calls or texts lately. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS are all turned off. I've killed the apps I don't need running. What else can I do?

Two questions:

1. What do you see in the "Battery" section under System Settings?

2. Are you using one of the unnecessary ineffective task killers?

After removing it from charge 40 minutes ago...

It's good that you are not using any task killers as they can negatively effect battery performance and no longer have any valid use. As for the percentages you posted, that's a fairly short period of time to gauge the battery use. You'll have a much better idea as to what is draining the battery overall if you look in the same section at the end of the day. So far, however, it looks like finding and maintaining a good signal is the biggest drain on your phone.

Check the Battery section again at the end of the work day and see where the percentages are. This will give you a good picture as to what is having the most impact on your battery.

I took my phone off the charger completely charged approximately four hours ago.

At 30% battery left, here is the lineup...

Phone idle - 37%

Screen - 21%

Cell standby - 19%

Android OS - 16%

Android System - 3%

com.motorola..provider.sugg.... - 3%

Twitter - 2%

Email - 2%

For what it's worth, @motorolasupport tweeted me yesterday saying they were looking into this issue.

In addition to what everyone has posted, have you used the wall charger or are you using the USB and car charger as the main method of charging?

Primarily the wall charger. I'll use the car charger if it's dead or close

Well all of your percentages Look Good your Screen Percentage is Lower than that of my Maxx So Unless a App is Running Constant in the Back Ground witch some can Do or if your in a 4G area that can drain a Battery sometime a little than 3G will if you Have Wi-Fi at Home you might Using it.. I Do all the Time when i'm at Home..

one thing i noticed with my razr is when the notification is set to turn the screen on at times my phone enters an emergancy call which causes the screen to stay up as long as buttons are being pressed while in my pocket. i actually dropped my battery usage at work by simply turning the notifications to where they dont turn on the screen. i also cut my data while at work because all i use the phone for at work is text or listening to songs i have on my phone.

If they allow Wi-Fi at work you could try that or switch to Airplane as Well
