Razr won't connect to PC after ICS Upgrade

Before the ICS update all I had to do was connect my USB cable from the Razr to the PC and I could browse the folders on the phone. After the update my PC does not even recognize the phone as a device. Is there a setting that I need to turn on in ICS? Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks

SETTINGS | STORAGE | Click the MENU key, and click on USB Computer Connection.

Mine is set to Mass Storage and it connected right up, I am using a MAC, you are using a PC I assume from the subject?

Is is set to mass storage but my Windows 7 PC does not recognize it as a device. Yes PC user.

Do I need to use the exact cable that came with the phone or will any micro USB cable work?

None of the suggestions as of yet work. The computer doesn't seem to recognize the phone now that it is running ICS. Apparently we are going to have to wait for a patch to come out from Verizon or Motorola so that ICS can be utilized with the computers.

Mine Worked Fine when i Hooked up to the PC: You might need to Recheck your Connection or Your Computer..

It does not Show an Option For Charging Only but it was Charging the Short Time i had it on the U.S.B. Cord but as you can see it. It clearly shows the other options.. And the Moto Cast page popped up as well on My PC screen..b33

Have you tried installing the recent drivers from http://www.motorola.com/Support/US-EN/Support-Homepage/Software_and_Drivers/USB-and-PC-Charging-Drivers

Its your cable. You have to use a factory cable/the cable that came with your phone. I had the same issues last month and was pretty frustrated. Especially after all the problems I had encountered after the ICS install. I have a bunch of micro usb cables at home, some were from an external battery pack, a couple were spares I bought for my old Droid 2 back in the day. I guess it has something to do with the pinouts of the cable. Probly some proprietary sh!t motorola put in.

Anyway, use the cable that came with the phone. That should do the trick.

The one i used was from My H.T.C Incredible i always kept the Cable in tip top shape and the that bought my Incredible didn't want so kept it and it Worked Fine..

I'm having the same problem. I have a Razr that I got last December, just updated to ICS. My factory cable stopped working, mechanical malfunction I think. Just bought another universal micro USB charger with detachable cable from the Verizon store. When I connect the phone to my PC laptop, my laptop says it cannot recognize the USB device. It only charges my phone. I've tried several different ports on this laptop, as well as a different computer. My USB computer connection is set to "mass storage" - but even when I select media device or camera, no change happens. I downloaded the most recent Motorola diver software, and still no change. This is so unacceptable!

Oh, and I didn't try to connect my RAZR to my laptop after I updated to ICS with my factory cable before it stopped working... only with the new cable and nothing has worked. Also, I restarted my computer and my phone several times during the process.

Does the Motocast application start up when you plug in?

Is the phone Off or On when you plug in?

What OS are you running on PC?

USB has a standard, it wouldn't be Universal otherwise. I have about a dozen micro usb cables from different manufacturers. They all work with the phone. I run 64bit Win 7 and hook the phone to a powered Belkin USB Extender.

Also, I have seen that since the upgrade, It takes about a minute for my phone/drives to sync up. Autoplay shows the phone MOT (M) drive (yours will probably be different) and then the SD card in another Autoplay as the MOT (N) drive.

I also get a periodic short hum from my right channel speakers (5.1 surround) when the phone is hooked up.

If it were me, I would uninstall the drivers in the control panel, reconnect my Razr and let it install new drivers. Sometimes installing new drivers without removing the old drivers causes its own set of issues.

No the Motocast doesn't start up. Phone is on, and I'm on a 64 bit Win 7 too. I got a message today prompting me to update my Motocast Live, which I did, but it didn't affect anything when I plugged my phone in. I left it plugged in for a while to see if that changed anything but no go.

I tried uninstalling the drivers and reconnecting the RAZR to let it install new drivers but I got the same message when I plugged it in: USB drive has malfunctioned and Windows doesn't recognize it :smileysad:

Also, other than this problem, I've experienced no problems (yet, *fingers crossed*) with my RAZR after the ICS update

Ok, I reinstalled the drivers, restarted my computer and plugged the RAZR back in. It wanted to download drivers (so obvi the motorola drivers from the site do jack shit) but immediately said unidentified USB and back to square one. BOLLUCKS!

You might need to do a Minor Cleaning on your Computer have a Local Computer Tech check it out and it might hurt to ask them to help you walk through the Loading of the Drivers. Also if these Drivers Take allot of space to work properly you might have bump up on some space to Get them loaded..
